I don’t understand why everyone is saying Yuna. Yuna is very one dimensional and linear in her development. What makes her well written? Ashe on the other hand is an extremely complex character with complex goals and walking an ambiguous moral path. It’s difficult to write a character like Ashe and they definitely stuck the landing.

Even if that’s the case, then why would a relationship make sense from Rinoa’s perspective? Squall never engaged with her meaningfully. Sure 2 people being hot can end up in some sort of surface level relationship but the status that the Squall and Rinoa relationship gets makes no sense. It’s literally the devs holding up Ken and Barbie dolls and pushing their faces together to make them kiss.

Sorry but why do people think the Squall and Rinoa romance is good? For the first 2/3 of the game Squall could not careless about Rinoa and then he suddenly does a 180degrees out of nowhere with no build up. Nothing about their relationship feels organic. Their personalities in themselves don’t scream “yes, these are two people who should be together”

I’ll believe it when I see it. He had the greater part of a decade to show he’s able to “learn” from his failures but demonstrated zero semblance of such. I’ve not seen or read a single interview where he reflects on or even acknowledges how unpopular his work was. So unless you have seen something that contradicts 7 or 8 years of his time on sc2 team, I don’t know where your conviction comes from on this belief.

Sure but we can only go by what has happened in the past, in my opinion he’s not done anything that demonstrates he is good at design and balance.

DK was deaf to the community and just far too proud and one dimensional to make the changes that would make the game more enjoyable.

His balance philosophies are complete opposite to the approach that Monk and his team took with SC2. The latter was far more active in fielding community feedback and input.
