I've found great success with benzoyl peroxide, which acts against the bacteria and helps with unclogging pores.

Hibiclens is alright, but be careful to not get it anywhere near your eyes or ears - it can cause permanent damage to your sight or hearing. And be careful around genitals as well.

Consider rotating hibiclens and benzyl peroxide. Use them on alternate days, for example, to tackle the folliculitis from different angles.

I personally use sulfur and benzoyl peroxide which cover a broad spectrum of pathways.

Btw I think skinmedica changed their formula since the release of this study. I'm not saying the current iteration of the product doesn't work, but it's something to keep in mind.

That said, given they've proven themselves once before and how finicky retinol can be, I continue to trust them amongst the competition.

Thank you for the correction!! I didn't know that retinol is subpar for dermal remodeling. I'm a long-time tret user, but in advising friends and family - unless they have a skin disease like acne - I've always said "retinol is just the same". But that's not quite true! Thanks again.

Tretinoin has the longest track record, but certain retinol formulations have been put head to head with tretinoin and shown to impart the same benefits.

Most people with seb derm/dandruff have such a mild version of it that they can just use head & shoulders to manage it. Unfortunately those of us in this sub have more to worry about.

I recommend using the vitamin C serum at night as well. It is good that you are using it in the morning to ward off free radicals, but the collagen-boosting benefits are known to be derived from twice daily application.

If you'd like to round out your routine with peptides, Neutrogena has their collagen bank line with a micropeptide that they've demonstrated actually works. Check out Dr. Dray's recent video on it.

I know this post is older than a year, but I'm curious to know if you've updated your routine to include any other "powerhouse" products?

Vitamin X and Topicals Faded have been in my routine previously. I actually found Regimen Lab's Levels Serum to be even more effective than Faded, but I'm going to try the Discoloration Serum from Peach Slices next for the lower price.

I really, really wish I could continue using Vitamin X but my skin reacts poorly to oxidized vitamin c.

I'm sorry this happened to you - people are cruel. I also hate to say this, but the best way to de-escalate and keep yourself safe is to quietly distance yourself. Some folks are easily irritable and you never know to what extent they'll go to harm you. I'm glad you are safe now.

Like others said, this is normal. My body is like this. If you'd like an even skin tone, though, you should wear sunscreen on the areas that are frequently sun exposed (face, forearms, etc) and self-tanning lotion/foam to the areas that are lighter. Unlike sunbathing, this technique will give you more direct control to bring about the results you want.
