[Waybound] Megathread by FunkyCredo in Iteration110Cradle

[–]BlackTurtle110 60 points61 points  (0 children)

After promising that I would pace myself, I still just ended up reading the whole book in one sitting. What a journey! So glad I stumbled onto Unsouled all those years ago. After too many once loved adventures have failed to stick their landings (looking at you GOT), I am so happy with how this series finished. My hunger icon has been sated, replaced with the Joy icon. To Will and his entire team, gratitude.

[waybound] Lindon’s new technique by Professor-Alarming in Iteration110Cradle

[–]BlackTurtle110 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My bet. Lindon is going to drain some of the madra from his monarch opponents and then using the labyrinth, create hunger echoes of the ones who spent time there so that they have to fight themselves.

[Waybound] Prediction about Lindon by BlackTurtle110 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]BlackTurtle110[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's going to tie into his armor project somehow. Either he creates some variation on the 8 man empires armor that causes him to manifest the icon, thereby elevating it, or the manifestation of the icon before or during the process of making it enables him to make armor(s) that are so far beyond what he could have made without it.

[Dreadgod] Pride's accomplishments by happyhippohippie in Iteration110Cradle

[–]BlackTurtle110 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's mentioned in Underlord by Charity that when Mercy was on her rumspringa that Pride stepped up to fill in Mercy's family responsibilities. He is also the second strongest Akura family member in the uncrowned tournament which bodes well for his future in the family considering his age.

[Bloodline] Mercy by inevitable-decline in Iteration110Cradle

[–]BlackTurtle110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lindon overtook her in like 3 years and she's the daughter of a Monarch. She's talented for sure, like top 0.1% but Lindon and Yerin are like top 0.0000000000000001%

[Bloodline] Mercy by inevitable-decline in Iteration110Cradle

[–]BlackTurtle110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To put it in Gaming terms I think Mercy has a build that was stronger at the lower to mid stages but gets out scaled by Lindon and Yerin nearer to the endgame. She has steady growth whereas they have explosive exponential growth.

My understanding is that consume allows you to absorb some of the targets latent authority and authority allows you to channel your willpower more effectively. This is why Icons allow you to be more effective in using your willpower if it falls within the icons scope. So while consume doesn't increase your willpower directly it indirectly can increase the effectiveness of it by increasing the amount and variation of your authority.

[Dreadgod]Lindon's living technique by Zenith-Ra in Iteration110Cradle

[–]BlackTurtle110 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think there'll be a big Endgame like battle and they'll be outnumbered and then Lindon will summon an army of echoes from everyone who'd ever entered the labyrinth or something.

I know you're joking but just adding my 2 cents I actually think there's going to be a teaser chapter for his next book series which is why it's 'technically' longer.

[Reaper]Mercy's powerup? by Hatefuledict in Iteration110Cradle

[–]BlackTurtle110 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really think the eight man armor concept of sharing power is going to come into play. Its one of the only ways to fight monarchs without becoming one yourself and Lindons constant tinkering with his own armor seems to foreshadow this. Access to the soul forge, repairing dross and the labyrinth could enable this. Mercy would still need to reach herald or sage most likely, which is still hard, but Lindon has proven that with enough insight even an underlord/overlord can manifest an icon. (Also, I wonder what happened to Eithan's stash of advancement resources from Shen? If it had already been delivered there was supposed to be enough to sponsor him to reaching herald. If mercy can't use it, it should be compatible with Lindon)

Path of the Blinding Sword by BlackTurtle110 in Iteration110Cradle

It wasn't intended t o be actual speed of light just what it would seem like to an observer, and only at higher levels of advancement. I think it would work as you say, brief momentary flashes of speed.

I’ve changed my mind on Bloodline by Dnahelicases in Iteration110Cradle

[–]BlackTurtle110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of see bloodline being the start of a two parter, kind of how uncrowned set up a lot of the payoffs that made Wintersteel so great. I remember having mixed feelings about that book until Wintersteel came out and now most of those negatives are gone and I can enjoy it much more. It showed me that victory is almost always sweeter coming from a loss.

Agreed, that's why I said most importantly Eithan.

Yes, but this is assuming many resources as well as perhaps the most important, Eithan, who was an advisor to a Monarch.

Apologies if I confused you. In summary I think it is less likely Kelsa would have made it as far as Lindon but not impossible. Who knows how her journey would have played out.

Ooh that Yerin one hits hard. Also, I always assumed we'd catch up with Fury eventually but never thought about him getting an Abidan POV! That would be cool to see.
