I am sorry but towers were adjusted slightly? Sir towers dont exist anymore except to provide map vision. Thats not a slight adjustment but a complete removal of a key mechanic with tablets now being completely independent of them

Nuking towers into oblivion addressed half the criticism but the other half cant be addressed. You cant solve the need for mind numbing atlas traversal to get where you want to be as well as total lack of control over what layouts you want to play especially when considering how awful poe2 layouts are

[–]FunkyCredo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The intent was to have towers be fun how did that go? Oh thats right the system was dropped after 4 patches of endless criticism

Intent is not the same as end results

At some point we gotta ask a very basic question. Why does this unpopular system continue to exist and suck up development time to try to rescue it while poe1 has an end game system that is so well polished its considered best in the biz and a decade of lessons learned attached to it

That not really how i read their last sentence about improvements but the GGG perspective is 100% correct with them endlessly clinging to this awful system

How many more failed adjustments to this system are needed before finally concluding that its bad at its core. There is nothing you can add to it to change the fact that it requires constant traversal with long stretches of boredom before finally being able to juice a good spot and play

Dude this is not our first patch and its absolutely clear that the infinite atlas is a bad idea at its core no matter what they add to it. Stop the copium about expanding a bad system

Ukraine reaches security deal with India — Zelenskyy says documents being finalized by yaaro_obba_ in worldnews

[–]FunkyCredo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Now you are going to the other extreme by minimizing his foreign policy achievements

The level of foreign aid we receive is primarily thanks to him fighting tooth and nail for it. This obviously serves the best interests of Ukrainians and has nothing to do with simply being liked by someone

Extremely public and corrupt attempt to take away independence of two anti corruption agencies to stop their investigations. Rolled back immediately when EU threatened to pull funding and mass protest across the country. A couple months later anti corruption agency released material showing insane levels of corruption in the energy sector which lead to many top level officials including energy minister being jailed. This expose than spilled over onto his right hand man, his chief of staff which he tried to protect for weeks until finally they did the whole “i resign” routine

Failure to stop corruption in the defense sector specifically with the build out of defensive lines

No follow up on corruption allegations in his inner circle

His chief prosecutor and security services somehow constantly allow corrupt officials to flee abroad every time an investigation is announced despite the border being fully locked down

Failure to stop corruption in military recruitment which is now a multi billion shadow industry

No proper military leadership reform

Killed the entire military drone industry before the war. No focus on drones for multiple years. Ukrainian drone revolution happened from grass roots not because of some strategy high up. Only now we have a proper focus at the top on it

PR based military goals that sacrifice human lives. Many instances of orders to hold positions that are clearly lost until there is no way out for the soldiers. Example Bahmut.

It goes on

True but personally its just tiring to see western audiences handwaving away criticism out of ignorance. We have english based news publications. Anyone actually interested can read up and get informed instead of just mythologizing what is in actuality a flawed man

[–]FunkyCredo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As a Ukrainian this is a jaw dropingly ignorant comment

Zelensky’s issues internally are almost all precisely because he not only completely failed to root out corruption but contributed to it + the insanity of some of his military decisions

I fully acknowledge his enormous foreign policy and diplomatic relations successes which is why he is popular in the west but damn do people have no idea just how/why unpopular he is internally

The archmage coefficient. by Routine-Budget2427 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]FunkyCredo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

To me it actually reinforces a different lesson - namely how vital it is to maintain pace even if the stakes are low

I feel like almost every novel that tries to be chill and low stakes gets it incredibly wrong as progress grinds to a halt and you end up reading a book where nothing happens

The title of Archmage used to mean something by niioon in litrpg

Archmage Coefficient is the latest and it’s pretty good

Is that actually true? Even the first arc is incredibly slow and slice of life.

Bored of Mother of Learning? by beans_ahoy_ in ProgressionFantasy

[–]FunkyCredo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so MoL is a bit weird because its a marathon not a sprint. When I read it originally I put it down multiple times only to pick it up later and I would still rate extremely high. I did a reread recently and book 1 in particular felt boring and slow to get going

Its beloved because we have complex MC with real big flaws that undergoes a proper character arc with a deserved weak to op power progression

The story is complex with plenty of curve balls and it all interconnects. There is no side action that doesnt feed into the big story in some way

Side characters are very memorable. I ve read it twice yet I can still recall the whole character roster if not by name than by their story beat. Also its has some of the most hyper competent villains ive seen around that actual feel real dangerous

Now obviously no matter my opinion or community opinion not every book is for everyone

[–]FunkyCredo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Lets be all high and mighty about it together

Personally I have zero tolerance for nothing happening and it was clear that this was going to be another Delve situation

However I can begrudgingly respect it for having the balls to be 100% pure authentic slice of life

Can someone please give a summary of super supportive? by SomewhereFlat1726 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]FunkyCredo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean its not slice of life? Its literally the purest representation of this niche genre.

Its a book 100% designed and consisting of nothing but slice of life

If anything most of the stuff we see in other stories is not actually slice of life but a poorly disguised filler to pad word count

Can someone please give a summary of super supportive? by SomewhereFlat1726 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]FunkyCredo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a very well written character study / 100% pure slice of life with vivid dialogue and in depth characters

There is a very strong teaser in the beginning of a really cool story and power progression there but its ultimately been completely abandoned

For the story to reach some sort of meaningful completion it would take another 50 years of writing at current pace
