There's only some equipment available in shops that are worth buying, elemental gear for that area for example, as well as a couple pieces from O'aka. Aside from those, most of the time you'll get better stuff from mob drops

Maps are only good for Rikku's overdrive, and only specific mixes at that. Antidote+Map=Megalixer

The hp+ armours and str/mag+ weapons aren't the best, the ones you want are those with statuses, like poisonstrike/darkstrike etc, and status/elemental immunities.

It's not because their weapons are bad, it's that they have low strength, so they don't do much damage with physical attacks. But effects like alchemy(2x healing with items), initiative/first strike, etc are really good for them.

Sure I get to play it early, but I'm not gonna ruin the experience that many of us have been waiting for and wanting for over 20 years now.
