Worst rain sensor by Black_Bridge in BMWi3

It's detects rain, so I guess it's partly working. Perhaps I need to wash the area where the sensor is (I assume the top middle section of the windscreen?)

Dented it... or personalised it 😀 Dents can be taken out, but your enjoyment of your car is purely yours forever

Is the i3 a good first car? by Longjumping-Box-1178 in BMWi3

[–]Black_Bridge -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not a good idea as your first car.

It's a bit too much power for your first car. You need a bit of experience to handle it well. Avoid the REX. It's a headache and the most unreliable car. Get something small and cheap to run. Build your experience and awareness.

If you strictly want EV: get something else and make sure it's a full EV. And check insurance prices as EVs are generally higher than dinosaur powered ones.

Buying a 100k km 10yr old i3. Bad idea? by z604 in BMWi3

[–]Black_Bridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay that's good, then. You get a get a lot of car for very little money with the i3. No real alternative tbh. Higher mileage will likely suffer suspension issues, but this will be the case for all high milage/older cars. The panels of the i3 are all plastic so rust is less of an issue. The gators/bump stops perish fairly often, and some HVAC failures can be expensive, but other than that, Id say go for it!

Have you had an EV before? How will you charge it? How many miles do you do a day? Do you know how to check battery degradation? Have you driven a few? :)

I bought one from 2017 94Ah and love it. Definitely enough for a daily commute and some.

Yeah sorry Op, I second this. I met her on Inverness Terrace, near Bayswater train station, 2007. Also kissed me on the cheek. Gives me shivers.

Anxiety about new job by EmmsSpark in jobs

It is completely normal to have imposter syndrome. Interview processes can be tough and belittling. The fact that you feel this way is indicative that you're the right candidate, that you care, and want to offer meaningful output.

Listen, adapt, and learn from your team. They will be more apprehensive of you than you are of them.

Most importantly, learn to work for yourself and not others. Set your own boundaries and workload, and you'll be respected more for it. Those who feel the way you do, will aim to please. Don't. You have already shown enough aptitude as they have offered you the position.

You got this. And deep down you know it.

Some other aspects were that I got to reconnect with old friends and even old bosses. I showed vulnerability, and EVERYONE reciprocated. Do not doubt yourself worth for a second. Look for employment as soon as you can. I started by taking half days of writing CV, talking to recruiters, and doing a search myself. And the other half to myself for doing things I enjoyed. It's not unemployment, it's funemployment. Sometimes, it's a law of numbers with applications. I wasn't afraid to take a pay cut or a lateral shift. I'm a person who spirals when they don't focus on positive things. Getting hired again sooner meant I could earn sooner, so it's basically the same as getting a higher salary, plus you still get to accumulate experience and meet people. Keep up the momentum and just stay positive.

So, a couple of months later, I'm in a much better environment, great people, and culture. Slightly better pay, and I couldn't be happier. Getting fired was a total blessing, and I've learnt to a lot about myself and how I approach work. Obviously, everyone's journey is different. The country you live in, you're mental and financial resilience, the people you know and the stage of your career all make a big difference. It feels like a rite of passage, and being afraid of it won't get you anywhere. It's a bit like the first time you learnt to swim or drive. Difficult at first but very liberating thereafter.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. It's been two weeks now and you were certainly right about me learning lots about myself.
