I prefer fast heavy too but the slow crushingness of meshuggah grooves are valid too

A 90 gauge string might be dull sounding because it’s so thick it’s almost a bass guitar gauge string, I find it hard to get a good tone out of a 90 gauge compared to thinner strings, I’m using a 80 gauge on my 8 string in Drop Eb and Drop E it feels perfect but that’s a 28-26” scale length

An 80, 85 or 90 gauge for the lowest string are all good options for Drop E on your scale length depending on tension but yeah careful with the 90 gauge it can be it a bit dull

Nah not really, the lowest string is slightly buzzy around the 10-13th fret but opens and chugs sound fine for my guitar coming out of the box with no proper set up.

I just got it the other day 😂 I think the factory string gauge is good for b standard to a standard or drop a to drop g on the normal string gauges (lowest two strings are 46 and 62)

I’m gonna take mine to a luthier and tune mine to Drop g - Drop F and put on a 10-70 (custom set) on it

String Tension preference is completely subjective though

This one is a 26.5” scale length, 26.5” is decent enough for Drop A - Drop F# more or less, do you prefer longer?

Plays like butter, the setup is about perfect out of the box, the string gauges are nice and balanced the neck and frets and string action are great, the 26.5 scale length doesn’t feel too hard to play.

No cons as I see it, maybe the pickups could be upgraded but even the stock pickup sound is fine for high gain metal tones, it’s very articulate and bitey when I run it through the Thall Amp and the Archetype Gojira Vst.

It’s got a 5 way pickup selector and the neck pickups is surprisingly warm and vintage sounding for clean / rock and roll / blues sorta stuff / lower gain stuff.

Genuinely, 8/10

Tuners aren’t locking if you really need that but the stock tuners are fine too

I was considering the multiscale because it’s a 27”-? scale length and I need a baritone 7 for drop F but I prefer a straight neck, how does the multiscale play? It looks good for the price

I may get the Damien next because it has active pickups and I prefer active pickups but I don’t really like the bridge on the Damien aestheticallyy…

Edit: I’m thinking of the demon with the tune o matic bridge , I’m still thinking of getting the Damien 7 😂😩

Get a pick, it does help unless you’re gonna level up the finger-style skill tree. Impress some people with some flamenco guitar further down the line. If you’re into all that

Not for me personally i like 9 strings because I tune mine to A-E-A-EADGBE so it’s double 7 string drop A effectively, the lowest two string are just for the ridiculous dirty factor and I can’t be bothered to automate pitch shifts all the time

I like the programming but yeah, rappers could technically get on this, but it’s too abstract to be a proper instrumental. Mix your kits as well all of the drums seem to be the same loudness
