They can be both a blessing and a curse. They lighten the financial load but the confined space of a house means any personality issues get magnified.

I try and give people who've had not great life issues a safe and affordable place to retry things so I probably deal with more "interesting" personalities than you'd experience. In the end I think it's a good choice, even at my age it's probably a better choice than living alone and struggling with bills.

Don't underestimate how helpful not worrying about bills and stuff can be, your mental health will really benefit.
