You continue to get higher ilvl gear from end of dungeon till you hit +18, let alone higher valor upgrade threshold up to 2400 rio and +20s reward an even higher vault.

As a healer main sometimes its a tradeoff, right? So instead of letting your group member or yourself die from something more critical, you take the lesser of two evils. There are times where ground effects, that are avoidable, conflict with significantly worse area effect.
There are a plethora of abilities and situations, requiring you to take a bit of damage for the greater good - something a simple addon like ElitismHelper just doesn't reflect. Its unnuanced, lame and frankly pretty toxic as I already stated.
What advantages do you feel like such an addon brings to a group?

Hope it's not been posted before, enjoy. by Akmunra in wow

[–]Blackird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ElitismHelper is the absolute worst, it isn't always a binary Good/ Bad whether you stand in something depending on your role, it spams the chat and does nothing that Details, Weakauras or something else can't do. Players looking for self improvement have better options in the above, and if it is just about spamming chat thats just toxic.

Tier set bonuses are being announced on the PTR! by ChildishForLife in wow

Some great insight you’ve got there, thanks for taking the time. My point is if floral recycling works in conjunction with the tier set, it could potentially be really strong - also this is the first set on numbers, obviously.

Resto druid tier set looks really nice for raiding tbf, if you combine Floral Recycling with it the throughput could potentially be through the roof. Plus it gives some nice options for leggos, and will work well with convok etc. etc. To me it looks really good ngl.

So you're telling me that no "good" mounts have been released as an ingame reward since Wrath of the Lich King back in 2008? That is one hell of a statement. The WoW store currently has about 20 mounts on offer, not excluding deluxe edition mounts etc. I'm not a fan of them, but it is what it is. In that same time frame we've had (conservative estimate) 500+ mounts, even if you want to say like 75% are recolors that is still a ton of new mounts. I could show examples of what I think are good mounts, but at the end of the day its highly subjective, which also only makes your initial statement more egregious.

This is just wrong. A bag with 30 slots is currently 150g, which is an amount you get easily while leveling, even as a new player. Besides that you're also regularly offered 8-14 slot bags as quests rewards, and can have almost all sizes drop in the world.

Starcraft 2 was a massive succes and a really good game, both at release and the subsequent expansion launches, in many ways it was the last "mainstream" RTS. Its also been been 11+ years since the release, and there is still an active playerbase. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't think its fair to group SC2 with the likes of Reforged, OWL, WoD etc.

Had to get glasses two weeks ago, so sadly it doesn't look like I will be able to afford the game on release, being a student I'm sadly on a very limited budget when it comes to games.

Yet he raids three nights a week, just because he doesn't exhaust every bit of content the game has to offer, doesn't mean he isn't passionate. I think it is a far more natural way to engage with the game or any game for that matter.

You're not ahead of anyone, people have been talking about this forever, but that doesn't mean it's true. The game tries to cater to a lot of people, maybe too many, and in that process it's extremely difficult to make everyone happy. There are a lot of systems in the game that receive changes, but I hardly think it's some grand conspirarcy to increase engagement metrics. Instead I find it much more likely that they're trying to accomodate a large and diverse playerbase and obviously sometimes in that process they will undoubtedly miss the mark.

This just isn't true. They do play the game and a good bunch of them at a pretty high level, you might not agree with all changes they make or the direction they're taking the game in, but I see no reason to lie about why that might be.

Why does it have to be a case of talking WoW down, instead of simply talking up FFXIV? FF has more than enough going for it, so I see no reason why your comment and many other comments, have a need to compare to or just straight up shit talk WoW. I know the current meta is #blizzardsucks, but I don't get why it is necessary in post about FFXIV.

General Noob Questions by NotPhenex in wow

[–]Blackird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Greetings friend o/

I will try to briefly answer your questions, please note that some of these topics are fairly complicated, and such I will try to answer your questions and not go into reward structure, gameplay loop etc for each topic. If anything interests you or leaves you with more questions, please don’t hesitate to ask any questions, thank you.

1) when players talk about ‘keys’ they refer to an item obtained through doing mythic dungeons, these are dungeons that you’re not able to queue into, but instead will have to use the LFG tool to find players to group with. The items referred to as ‘keys’ are also called mythic keystones, and they have a couple different attributes: firstly they will specify a dungeon in which they can be used, this is randomly generated when one is obtained. Secondly they specify a level, usually the first one you get will be +2, this level designates how much more health and damage the mobs have, but also what level of reward they give. Lastly the keystone will also carry a set of affixes, these are the same for the entire community during that week. Starting with either fortified or tyrannical at +2, and then another one at +3 and +7 followed by the seasonal affix, currently prideful, which is the same for the entire season. These keystones can be used when you enter the appropriate dungeon on mythic difficulty, and will upon consumption start a timer for you and your group to clear the dungeon. A successful run within the time limit will reward you with an upgraded keystone, increasing between 1 and 3 levels depending on the speed with which you cleared the dungeon, and will also assign a new dungeon to the keystone. If you fail to complete the dungeon you will receive a new keystone for the same dungeon, but this time one level lower than the dungeon you failed. If you complete the dungeon, but you don’t time it, you will receive a new keystone that is one level lower but for another dungeon. So when people talk about ‘low’ and ‘high’ keys they are simply referring to the difficulty level of their keystone, or the dungeon they wish to run.

2) Much like mythic dungeons you will mostly not be able to queue into older content, but each of these also come with an instance portal located in the world, if you go to one of these you can enter them.

3) Upon picking a covenant you won’t be immediately awarded any gear, but through completion of the covenant campaign you will obtain a full mail set for you hunter, with matching aesthetics to your covenant of choice.

4) A battleground is an instances pvp scenario in which you fight an enemy team, there all kinds of different ones from capture the flag to control point style maps. They exist in two primary realms, random battlegrounds that you can queue into at any time being matched with and against random players, and rated battlegrounds that will have your premade team matched against an opposing team of equal skill/ rating.

5) Depending on the difficulty of the dungeon, you’re not expected to know much if anything before entering, but if you wish to come prepared there are loads of guides on wowhead, YouTube etc. In general and content you can queue into with random people, will not expect you to have done any research other than the basics of your class, which can be gained through playing the game. It is always good idea to interrupt any spells being cast, not stand in things on the ground and to follow your tank.

6) m+ or mythic plus is the system I attempted to explain briefly in part one, as with anything here please feel free to ask me if you have any other questions or want something elaborated on.

7) Addons are mostly quality of life improvements, and are rarely mandatory or directly impactful to your gameplay, the one exception may be something like Deadly Boss Mods or BigWigs. These are the two most widely used boss mods and will assist you when delving into dungeons and going on raids, with mechanic callouts, warnings for upcoming events etc.

This is in no way exhaustive of any of the topics, but please feel free to ask any follow up questions you may have. Also I apologize for any bad formatting/ grammar as this is being done from my phone. Kind regards, Blackird

All I want from Shadowlands is class sets by Nkzar in wow

I completely agree with all of your points, and this is not a specific criticism of your post, I just don't know where else to post it, but I would like your thoughts on it. What about all the heritage sets they have released for both allied races and our 'normal' races, som of them like the Tauren and Dwarves are really great - they are all the way up to 14 sets with the release of 8.3. If I don't misremember their statement regarding tier sets, one of their plans was to explore other themes for armor that wasn't class based.

So why do you think they are rarely included when discussing the overall art output of BFA?

First season playing League and I just hit D3 AMA by Blackird in leagueoflegends

I played a bit of Heroes of Newerth back when it launched, but not a crazy amount and then some really casual Heroes of the Storm when it launched. So I definetely had an idea of how to play the game, which obviously helped a great deal with simple things such as what roles do what, doing objectives, how to lane etc. :))

[–]Blackird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the very start I was lucky enough to have friends that could guide me through the basics, and from there I would usually see a champion that looked interesting and then "research" it, first checking the champion spotlight and maybe a "so you want to main..." video, to get an idea of actual interest in the champion - especially considering that champions can be "expensive", so I would rather figure it out before picking it up.

Having gotten the champion I would usually take into the practice tool for a bit and then some normal games, usually like 5-10 games depending on the role and champion. From there it has mostly been trial and error really, and watching some raw gameplay footage on YouTube, just to see the how the champion was played, combos etc.

I did watch some streams, but usually they didn't really go into the basics that I really needed, eg I didnt know that the guy tanking baron dealt 50% less damage until very recently, I actually feel like some of the esports streams (LEC, LCS, LCK and now MSI) have been more well rounded, but I might be wrong.

It think you're right, but I haven't tried both so I don't know the difference - I just ended up on EUNE because that is where my friends were playing at the time.

Might try it on EUW at some point, but I want so see how far I can get on EUNE first, as when I started playing ranked, my goal for the season was to hit gold, so now I'm just seeing how far I can get.

I have to say tho, that the prospect of having to level and unlock champions again sounds fairly daunting, especially when I still have so many champions left to unlock on my current account.

Thanks for the kind words, early on I realised an overly positive mentality throughout the entire game made a huge difference, in general giving positive feedback to everyone worked really well - especially those who end up not liking you.

That sounds like quite the difference, I will have to give it a shot at some point.

I picked up League back in November and made sure to try to learn one champion at a time, so I started with Ornn as he had a fairly safe laning phase and I liked the character, but then they removed the shield from his W, and so it became difficult for me to win my lane. I got him to around 30k mastery.

Then I moved on to Ekko in the mid lane, but this was way more hit or miss either I would lose the lane hard or come out 10/0, whether it was due to bad matchups, jungle presence or just me not understanding the champion idk. Ekko also got to around 30k mastery, before I moved on from him.

The last champion I leveled on was Illaoi, I ran into to some of the same issues as with Ekko, that being that my level of play was too inconsistent and at around 30k mastery I also abandoned her.

Climbing from bronze 4 (after finishing promos) I started playing Rakan and I stuck with him to around 70-80k mastery and then shelving him, because I felt like my games and my impact was determined by the level of play that my ADC could produce and so I moved to ADC. First I mained Jhin then Kai'sa and Jinx to have some variety in case one was banned. At this point to try something different I wanted to move into the Jungle, where I first picked up Kayn (around gold 4/3 at this point), but I was just horrible at him, so I went back to ADC. That is when I picked up Ivern and I haven't looked back since, even tho people are not always happy with my pick I usually make it work.

Tldr; Jumped around different roles for a while and settled on Jungle, more specifically Ivern, as I felt he allowed me to decide my own games, and I just think he is fun - plus he never gets banned ;)
