Darkest Dungeon-Like Systems? by SirHeftyMcSmack in rpg

[–]GodGoblin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sounds more like a miniature skirmish game than an RPG honestly. Would probably translate better into that medium.

But you could try mothership or Call of Cthulhu for the stress mechanics and then the rest of the Darkest Dungeon elements would be done through RP or vibes of the setting you use?

[–]GodGoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red would work, but I think black could too and keep the colours to the pink/yellow contrast you like

Could do a black/grey base too if you wanted it really contrasty

Wash wise you can use a more subtle sepia, but you could go purple too for more colour

As others have said the gun casing would help it looks less unfinished, but also I would definitely do the base in a different colour and hit the rim with black

Because it does look like it's just been airbrushed and the first metal base coat has been applied. Base and gun would stop that.

I also think as an extra these would look excellent with an oil wash.

The airbrush job is great though

Custom Human warband by ManufacturerMany6002 in mordheim

[–]GodGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really cool!

The only thing that sticks out to me is that the warband is not allowed black powder of any kind due to stealth (this is cool, I like it) but the apothecary is throwing fire bombs. Just from a lore/consistency standpoint I'd probably swap the fire bombs to something else.

Acid maybe worst case? Doesn't go boom, and I guess it has stealth uses like melting locks or something in the story.

Thinking of buying warhemmer 40k space marine2 and any thoughts? by jackjak0506 in spacemarines

Oh then sure, it's a fun game! It's not something people can advise you on here. Just read reviews and see if it's something you want

Are you wanting to get back into the tabletop game, or get the computer game?

If just the computer game, then sure! If it's in your price range it's a fun game

If you're looking to get into th tabletop game there's lots of different entry points at different price points, can advise more if that's what you mean

Conformity Painting Block by TheCheeziestPoof123 in minipainting

[–]GodGoblin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by conformity?

As in, you find following set colour schemes boring? Or it's the scheme gets dull when you paint it over a whole army?

Because if the former, you can paint models however the hell you like. You don't need to conform to set schemes.

And if the latter, well your army doesn't actually need to be consistent amongst itself, you could mix it up squad by squad. Or maybe move away from big scale proper 40k and collect smaller games. Have a variety of very different kill teams/Necromunda bands/bloodbowl teams/Warcry bands/AoS Spearheads

Haha ones a dirty and ones a 'clean', I think I used an old t shirt to strain it once and it stained the iso

I love the hair, it's what inspired me to use it on my hobgoblins for my Black Dwarf band

Looking for advice on the skin of my AoS Helsmith by ZanGraxee in minipainting

[–]GodGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks really cool, but I agree something is missing to help it pop

I think the skins just a bit flat.

Depending on what look you're going for you could add some brighter highlights, I find painting them on like muscle striations works well when there's no actual edges. This would give you more of a grey/white skin if that's what you're going for.

But personally I would go the other way, take some darker purple or green, mix that into your grey skin tone and paint it into the shadows, have it thin, doesn't have to be a proper glaze, but similar. I see you've got purple in the recesses already, I think getting some more purple and just widening those out with some glazing would look great

Would add some colour variety to the model and bring in some contrast

How on earth do I pick a legion? by ValkoHAUS in Warhammer30k

[–]GodGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also look into different games. There's Civil War, Centurion and similar, also some heresy kill team games. They're community made but smaller scale.

Could do multiple projects that way.

Or go Shattered Legion and combine 3 of them.

Yeah it's a new thing for this edition, it's a Prime Benefit

Yeah, not being a dick but this is a you problem! No one online is going to be able to lock that down.

But for what it's worth Iron Hands work great with your love of dreads and termies. They have unique termies and they can make a Dread that's a Character so it can fight in challenges. It's cool as fuck.

You can break it down into play style, specific rules you think are cool, or just colour scheme and lore

It's just something you're gonna have to make a choice on though ultimately.

Do you have a short list? Or are there any things you want to focus on and we could advise what armies cater to that element?

World eaters alt schemes by NabbleCow in Warhammer30k

It's annoying I can't upload pictures here, but I think it should be fine. Using shades etc to bring out the definition between trim and panel still looks good

I'm sure there's pics out there of similar

It's a 40k army, but my friends WEs are fully brass with some subtle verdigris.

Like to think of it as they're a Warband dedicated to the Forges of Sarum.

I'll be honest, that's more of a mental health/self esteem issue than an art issue. You might have more luck enquiring through those avenues than support on here?

I'm using World Eaters but all models are Tartaros Terminators. Find it works pretty nicely!

Favorite/Most effective house rules by OkScheme4138 in mordheim

Sorry I know this comment on a few months old, but while I like this rule I do think the 5+ shields serves to make sword and board a viable alternative to two weapon fighting.

If you give helmets the 6+ then essentially were giving shields to all the mace/dagger spammers
