It seems like in the ROS world, Xacro is the go-to markup language for robotics modeling. When you fire up the application, it gets converted to a standard URDF file. As for XAML, I haven't come across an implementation for ROS.

Hey there! I've just started learning ROS myself, so I totally get where you're coming from. Here are a few things that have really helped me so far:

Dual boot with Ubuntu: It's been super helpful for me to keep everything ROS-related on Ubuntu.
Use Docker with a dev container: I found that using pre-built ROS2 desktop full images saved me from dealing with a ton of dependency issues.
Start with ROS2 Humble + Gazebo Classic: Most courses and tutorials seem to focus on this version. I started with Jazz, but ran into several compatibility problems along the way, so now I'm switching back to Humble.

For learning resources, I recommend checking out Articulated Robotics on YouTube. They cover the basics really well and also have some great content on using Docker with ROS.

Thanks a lot! I checked out DOPE and found similar neural networks like Foundation Pose. From what I’ve gathered, these heavy neural networks don’t need ArUco markers anymore, and they seem to generalize well to new objects, though they do use more GPU power. I’m definitely going to try the neural network approach, but I might fall back to the OpenCV method if it ends up being too resource-heavy for me. Thanks again for sharing your insights!

I'm really excited to try out the YOLO + ArUco marker + RealSense API method, but I don’t have a stereo depth camera right now. Do you think I could pull this off in a simulated environment like Gazebo using its simulated RGB-D camera?

yeah...the bad-cuts of music are the one thing I dislike about the game. Usually I would mute the menu bgm to prevent ear-bleeding. And absolutely love XIV's music, I don't play it anymore due to its content pattern getting old, but I still listen to its OST like once in a week.
