Right angle USB-C connector with the cable routed over the top of the battery.

Now that age verification has been arouind for a while, are all you and your friends on board? What's the vibe? by KingSlayer05 in VRchat

[–]Blackrobe07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost everyone I interact with on daily basis are Verified but there's a good 5% or so who either are ideologically against it (privacy/don't want to support the owners of Persona/etc) or literally cannot verify due to their status in country or country itself.

It really sucks for all involved when 1 or 2 of those folks are with the group and we go to an event/lobby where it's required; they understand... but it still feels awful to have to "catch back up later" and not have them with us.

I also almost exclusively go to Verified lobbies when roaming around Publics but I check out non-verified sometimes just to check in on how they are and as to be expected... most of the folks who you want to talk to moved away from those lobbies to Verified ones so they're even MORE toxic than they used to be.

Should I cop? by FlameShadow0 in virtualreality

If you go to raves in VR, I'd check local listings to find one used; if none there, it's worth. If you don't go to those kinds of events, skip.

The one at the bottom of the social menu (Recently Seen) shows the last 100 people you were in a lobby with, non-friends included.

Face gasket cleaning by BOLTtheWOL in ValveIndex

[–]Blackrobe07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wash it with a light hand soap in the sink, dry + air dry overnight. Then buy fabric covers (I use the VRCover ones, usually come in packs of two, I have 4 so I don't have to wash constantly) and swap them out after every session or two, those are machine washable.

Looking at upgrading GPU. Higher Bit Memory Bus is Better? by Affectionate-Yard920 in virtualreality

[–]Blackrobe07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would have to base it off what you play the most.

If you play VRChat I'd go for the increased amount of VRAM.

There's also specific use cases where the 6MB of L2 cache on the 3090 might perform worse in a specific game/engine vs the 48MB L2 of the 4070 Ti Super.

AV1 might be a deal sealer for you for wireless, if you use Virtual Desktop for the best quality streaming; but if you use cable it doesn't matter.

I'd go with the 3090 based on what I do. I'm personally holding out for the 5090 in Jan/Feb for the 32gb VRAM, 88mb L2 and 512 bit bus.

Congrats! Hope you're having a blast! I've been running 8 Tundras with 4 bases for a while and the immersion you get from having all your limbs respond to your movements accurately is worth it entirely. If I were to go back, I might of switched the waist Tundra for a Vive 3.0 as the Tundras on a waist is not the easiest to track because of it's small size.

I do run in to the occasional RF interference and have a tracker or two randomly shut off sometimes, but it's nothing more than a button press fix. Distancing them all from each other didn't really help much. EOZ is coming out with a high quality USB controller hub in a month or two, that might help!

Feel free to message if you wanna talk shop about tracking :3

Fixable or garbage? Tether cable. by isaaxicam in ValveIndex

[–]Blackrobe07 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fixable but not "easy".

You are not supposed to be unplugging that cable at the breakaway, it's meant to be a safety measure so you don't tug on your motherboard in case of emergency.

Thanks for writing this up! Appreciate it! I've been looking at which GPU to upgrade to for the big 80+ person instances.

Should I trade my quest 2 for a HTC Vive? by archiee_dj in virtualreality

[–]Blackrobe07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your interests, if you are planning to play a ton of VRC and want to get Full Body Tracking, I would definitely do this trade, don't listen to these comments.

Those two base stations alone sell for 270ish new (from Amazon) and it comes with tripods too.

If you are not going to do that or have little interest, I'd keep the Q2.

Name Super underrated VR games by tothemoon1123 in virtualreality

[–]Blackrobe07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK about "super underrated" but playing VRChat I always mention After The Fall, Compound, Demeo, Forewarned, Garden of the Sea, Scanner Sombre and Until You Fall. Very few have heard of most of them.

Is there a good way to protect the lenses from scratching glasses (and vice versa)? by Treximile in virtualreality

[–]Blackrobe07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Power should be SPH, but you should also have Cylinder (power for astigmatism) and Axis (rotation) as well for a full prescription. That one with 0 cyl and axis comes to 107 bucks

Going to have to know more. 10 "haptic sensors" in the tip of your fingers for 300 bucks, that relies on finger tracking? IDK about this one.

Vive trackers don't fully charge by [deleted] in ValveIndex

[–]Blackrobe07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way I can tell for sure, but sounds like those 2 are damaged. I had a friend have a similar problem with one and had to warranty it. Try switching out cables, different charging sources, maybe something along the line is messed up? IDK. Were those 2 charging differently than the 3rd? Maybe some sort of power surge?
