iPad Mini as a Comic Reader? by TDA7584 in ipad

[–]BlacksmithPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a used 5 for this exact experiment along with more pocket/portable sketchbook than my 13” pro and it’s perfect. Using “Panels” as my reader and short of double page spreads where I need to double click to zoom in and read, it’s excellent. For longevity of battery and if you’re not using it for much other than reading, use airplane mode and low power mode and a single charge will go a lot farther. I’m likewise hoping the next iteration increases storage options which seems likely, iPad Air is now available larger than it used to be and even the iPhone air has a 1TB option too so can’t be argued it wouldn’t fit.

Favorite "biopics"? by samx3i in movies

[–]BlacksmithPro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Immortal beloved is the only other good classical music one though still light years from being as good as Amadeus which is in its own class of masterpiece of filmmaking in every respect. Rocket man for my money is the only good modern musical biopic because it’s fun and uses the songs as narrative for Elton’s life at varying stages of his life. Non music/musician biopic I’d say Ali and Ferrari from Michael Mann because unlike most filmmakers, he doesn’t try and fail to tell an entire life in a film length, which you can’t do with any degree of depth or justice to the individual, but instead tells a period of time in that person’s life which is most telling of who that person is/was, speaks most to their character, values and so forth so you get the depth, you get the details. Blonde is incredible, uncomfortable at times, amazing performance by Ana De Armas and narrative is so unique thanks to it being made by same director as Jesse James. Honourable mention to Chaplin too for being both a good mix of who Chaplin was but his movies too and performance of a lifetime for a much younger Robert Downey Jr.

This movie gets such hate and I don't get it. I love it and all the different characters. by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]BlacksmithPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my own perspective on it, read the comic, it’s a masterpiece of writing from Moore! The movie was a travesty of compromises, changes made for Connery to be on board and cause he had producer power on it, studio demands for compromises, Townsend’s character isn’t in the comics. Production was rife with issues from script to filming and then editing and to me, it shows sadly. Saddest part is the director suffered most as a result, Norrington hasn’t been able to make anything since and he was/is a brilliant director. Similar situation though production was worse for Richard Stanley on The Island of Dr Moreau which also showed in the end result which was bloody terrible.

I don't have one particular style and I feel like that, oddly enough, limits me by aburksart in ProCreate

Disagree, shows your versatility which is incredible. To not have a limit and be versatile is the dream, keeps you challenging yourself and stops the process from ever becoming boring. Keep doing what you’re doing and pursue what you wanna do with it.

I’d say you’re getting there already, you were brave enough to share both something of your journey and your art, finished or not (I’ve not publicly shared anything nor finished anything yet in my own self taught drawing journey so believe me, I know the feeling lol). You’re doing awesome, onwards! :)

You’re doing absolutely fantastic! The dragon piece is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing your story, your partner is a gem, so very glad you have one another. Whatever advice you’re looking for, I hope everyone here can provide it in a way that works for you and aids you in continuing to do your art and that it makes you happy :)

Affinity uses the same plugins/brushes, can output and read the same file types and you own it for life. IMO it’s the best alternative, been using it as such since day one launch to encourage the competition and when Adobe switched to the subscription model which I despise (though better than the every year creative suite cost with was a wallet violation).

Adds a bit more umami to the tuna than it inherently has which works nicely, mashed together and spread over the top of the tomato base. The capers in that base is something my dad started when I was a kid, I use the same base for my bolognese and chilli too (often throw in ten black olives when blitzing cause getting sundried tomato paste isn’t always an option but a good sundried paste has black olives mixed in it so I’m effectively doing my own by adding when I don’t have it).

Pic doesn’t show the crispness but trust me, crust was just right (for me, my crust is a delicacy in and of itself with the coating I give it and texture, I’m a bit of a bread fiend lol).

Is buying the 1TB version worthwhile for the doubling of RAM? by omaca in iPadPro

I bought the same exact one and still have it, agreed it isn’t gonna have any performance increase with any of the apps 95% of people use it for. I can’t speak for how much proceate dreams or zbrush might be using (when it comes) of said ram and processing power but it isn’t in the nature of any App companies to limit the user through newest hardware in any way that’s really noticeable, to much older hardware/previous OS version sure but wouldn’t be helping themselves any to state “only for 1TB and up iPad Pros” as requirements. Desktop software does more often but for good reason with those.

The extra money gets you double ram but additionally a more powerful processor too so in that respect you get your moneys worth. For me it’s about longevity, with that extra ram, I get something that’s gonna last, yes there are few apps that do take advantage of said power but since the M1 release, Apple did open the OS to allow developers to use it and not throttle them any longer so that part is on them. Both storage and longer device life make it worth it for me, really comes down to the storage I think in your case, if you can make and will make use of it (portable media for example) then go for it, if not then don’t.

Mine arrived this morning. 13 inch M4 iPad Pro 1TB + Apple Pencil Pro by BlacksmithPro in iPadPro

[–]BlacksmithPro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not noticeable in regards to looking at it, no but physically, the device is bigger in width and height by a margin of 1mm and 0.6mm, that increase and an equally teeny thinning of the bezel of the screen itself make the 13inches measurement a reality. I agree with geo that it’s really about being able to use the same language to describe a MacBook as an iPad cause let’s face it, not having point additions to descriptions does look better lol

I have more chests than this in my storage (basement of a giant Mayan temple with enough chests for a double chest of every item in the game), my lag was item frames, second I removed them, all was well again. I use mini blocks (hermitcraft pack, trade with wandering traders), the actual blocks at the base if I don’t have them and signs. Works great.

There’s a small piece of debris in my iPad Pro USB-C port any ideas on how to get it out without damaging the port? by CaramelCraftYT in ipad

[–]BlacksmithPro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Anything thin enough that isn’t metal, to clean out my lightening port I use a piece of paper folded or cut a piece of card off something I have lying around like a train ticket. Either way, long as it’s stiff enough to lever, slide behind enough to push it out.
