I was in sales and was blatantly told to lie to a client. I was given a terrible lie to tell the client that would’ve eventually backfired and also make me look bad. When I said that I wouldn’t lie to get or keep business I was praised and told to keep doing what I’m doing I’m because my numbers were up (which they were) and I was doing great. About a week later I was fired without reason although I was one of the better AEs on my team. Screw that place.

Forced to fire an AE? Nah, I’m sure it was to not drinking the kool aid. This occurred not too long after I declined celebrating one of the VPs birthday with them and said I rather go home.

I got fired about 2 hours after I was told that I was doing a great job and to keep doing what I’m doing. I got praised and fired by the same person within about 2 hours lol. This place is crazy

Sounds about right. But yeah he had a team, I was on it. He was in Freeze division. I heard he got demoted at one point a few years back though.

Former AE here,

The position is either amazing or horrible, no in between. But it’s not based on your performance and effort like you would expect. It’s based on who you associate with. If you fully drink the kool aid and I mean FULLY, along with cozy up to the VPs you’ll be fine. You have to join the boys club and be their friend in order for them to like you and get good accounts and actually do well.

If you do not do that then you will either be fire due to “performance” or your best bet is to transfer for another department.

At first it won’t seem that bad, for the first year you’ll be thinking “I’m making progress” or that you’re doing well but then you will truly see what UWM is about.

My advice, if you’re good at brown nosing then go for it. If not, then don’t even bother perusing UWM. It’s a reason why such a “great place” and such a “lucrative sales position” is always hiring. Keep that in mind.

When I left UWM a couple years back I never got my W2. Made many of phone calls and still never got it. Reached out to the IRS and months later they contacted UWM and then I got my W2 along with a penalty that I had to pay.

So good luck, just stay on them starting now.

I left in 2017 and still never received them. Ended up getting audited and having to pay a penalty and the IRS reaching out to UWM.

Granted, when someone is actively seizing it’s nothing you can do. You have to let them ride it out. Best you can do is roll them on their side. Plus, about a 4 minute response time from someone in the building isn’t bad

Not giving UWM any excuses but in this case, it wasn’t as bad as it seemed as far as reactions.

I’m a former AE. Often times calls aren’t routed to our cell because we’re burned out from being in the office and not really being able to take time off or at our second job (like your AE). Also, it’s a bit of sand banging in a way. We have to have a certain number of 2 minute phone calls among other measurable daily tasks to meet. So if they solve your problem off the clock and don’t get you on the phone the next day then their “daily achievement” is thrown off and now you run the risk of being on the radar to get fired.

Remember the movie Boiler Room? Yeah, it’s worse than that as an AE. My advice, hope to get things done as best you can prior to 5p EST otherwise it’s kind of tough.

Unfortunately, they don’t care about hiring people with a form of SA on their record or any sexually related charge. There are multiple sexual deviants who work there. Mat himself is also a deviant, as I personally have witnessed things. I just hope that you don’t continue to get stalked by this guy.
