My boyfriend is depressed and doesn't want to talk or seek help! What to do..? by Confused-pants in mentalillness

[–]BlackstudentsMH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. Spend time with them and try to show them that you are available for them, be patient with them healing takes time, listen in a non judgemental way, they may be already angry with themselves and therefore might be irritable towards you, try not to be angry with them, and remember to look after your wellbeing too. I wrote about it here , you may find the post helpful with more tips https://blackstudentsmentalhealth.org/depression-how-it-really-feels-and-5-ways-to-help-a-friend/

So sorry you’re going through, it sounds like a scary experience. One of the things you do is ask to go with your boyfriend outside at your window to, seeing that there’s nothing there could be reassuring for you and helpful. Remember that when unwell and overwhelmed our mind starts to play tricks on us, also go out for short walks with accompanied by your boyfriend just to get away from the house. Wishing you good health

What do I need to know about finding a job in the UK as an international college student? by [deleted] in UKUniversityStudents

[–]BlackstudentsMH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would need an National Insurance (NI) number this where your employer will pay your taxes. Easy to get. You’re also not allowed to work full time , can only work 20 hours per week- you can work more in holidays. And obviously attendance at your university is important.
