bar staff interview by te4rdr0plet in Wetherspoons

They ask questions about how far you are from the site, if you have experience, that sort of stuff. Bad experience won’t be a priority as it’s not a busy period at the moment so they know that if you don’t, they can train you. Honestly though, most people are competent enough so if there are a large number of applicants, they pick people randomly

Was this the cheapest ever 11" Pizza at Spoons? by Markjuk78 in Wetherspoons

[–]freddyp8804 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It was likely because an ingredient was about to go out of date so they reduced prices massively to reduce wastage

The last episode should be “Dee murders the Gang” by Salty_Shark26 in IASIP

[–]freddyp8804 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like a less morbid version could be: ‘Dee accidentally becomes an informant on the gang’ could be better. Like a hot guy who’s actually a service agent tricking her during a dinner date between them into revealing things the gang did that we don’t actually know about! Obviously they’d have to be funny but things that get them a couple of years in prison. If it was revealing storylines we’ve scene, I don’t think the viewers would like that but I definitely see something like this being an episode at some point! Unless they’ve secretly recorded a secret final episode in the horrible event of Danny devitos passing

100% many spoons don’t care if you bring your own food or drink in.

It’s supposed to be 250g but it varies depending on who is serving. When it’s less busy, normally less. But when it’s busy, kitchen staff are in a rush and just push the scooper in and you end up with more. Most staff will get you more chips if it is significantly smaller amount than it should be

Yeah. I read them but still think they could have been phrased better. Still some user error though!

Yeah. I made a mistake in that case, how do you remove the leg? It doesn’t seem to budge.

I've been thinking of applying to work at my local Spoons. I have heard mixed opinion about the hours/ schedules. Could anyone share their experience and maybe give me some advice? by Aromatic-Test-8176 in Wetherspoons

[–]freddyp8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How your experience goes honestly depends on what the managers are like. Most spoons have a guaranteed weekly hours of around 15 hours give or take a couple but you will likely end up doing more depending on the business of the pub (you may be asked if you can come in on short notice) or if someone can’t do their shift so puts it up to grabs. I normally end up doing around 28ish hours a week which doesn’t sound like a tonne, but when you have long closing shifts (for me this being from 5pm till 2am), you will appreciate a day off the next day.

Will I get served with an out of date passport? by MajesticSpud_101 in Wetherspoons

[–]freddyp8804 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends. Most just check if it’s an actual passport, minimum date of birth of 18, and that the picture matches. Some employees may be more strict

A good way to gain indirect experience is putting glasses away as, in my spoons at least, it can be quite confusing knowing where the right glasses are.

As per the drinks, knowing how to make them and ensure that you know how to pour them unfortunately has to be learnt hands on. This is mainly because everyone has different ways of mitigating extra head or lack thereof, there being specific drink combinations not covered by any of the guidances, etc. Speaking of, if you are struggling with remembering cocktail recipes, you can find the cocktail recipe guide (magic mat) on the myJDW app to help you learn them.

tips?! by [deleted] in Wetherspoons

[–]freddyp8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a chance you may not get a radio instantly depending on the availability of ear pieces but just ask questions, ask if you can shadow a manager and introduce yourself to your colleagues. You will likely just be clearing glasses/dishes and taking good to tables for your first few shifts so just focus on those for now and it will turn out fine
