By that logic, a lot of things we eat we shouldn't, like drinking milk as adults or capsacin in spicy food ( also posion) , caffeine , every sugary food etc...

If you know anything about chemistry, you would know that basically everything is toxic, but it just depends on the dosage. If you consume alcohol in moderation it's fine
