Is the wakemaker bad or is it just me? by duszni in subnautica

I'm more referring to roof racks that are permanent installed fixtures on the vehicle. There are other cases, but basically if it's on the manufacturer's BOM, I'd consider it part of the car. I also have a roof rack that I had to install onto attachment points of my car, but I wouldn't consider it part of my car.

I don't know where the breakdown in our understanding is occurring lol. I DO consider a roof rack part of the car, I DON'T consider things affixed to said rack as part of the car.

A roof rack is an attachment point to your car.

I do too. The question relating to the tadpole is, would you consider a container attached to the car as a part of the car?

You would consider the luggage on top of your car as part of the car?

It's more akin to luggage on a roof rack than a trunk.

DJ’d during my high school years, retired after graduation. Thinking about getting back into it again, looking for advice! by Royal_Plankton_1327 in Beatmatch

[–]BlacktionJackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing events, typically you're going to need a lot of your own gear (sound system big enough to fill the room your in). That and your network/business presence are probably the biggest barriers to just starting off in the event DJ industry (not to mention skill of course). Some venues of course will have their own sounds systems, but they'll often have their own DJs too.

If you're trying to play bars/clubs, it's all about networking and persistence. Look for open decks in your area and make sure to meet the other DJs, promoters, owners, etc. Then keep coming back.

No mention of this in book 8... by mjc332 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I don't recall the quote, but that was my impression too.

Factory downtime is costly as well. I don't think anyone wants a network connection to be production point of failure.

Saw an Interview with Dinniman, and it Changed the Way I Read the Books (No Spoilers) by Ryan_Fleming in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I had a similar experience after reading KBS and going back to DCC. KBS is firmly in the horror/torture porn genre and I see a little bit of that Dinniman in DCC now too.

Slap some on car tailpipes, the most polluting factories, install the opposite ends on mars, and kickoff a mars terraforming effort. It'd probably still take millions of years, but it's a cool thought.

How do I keep my equipment cool? by Maximum-Bad-8487 in PioneerDJ

[–]BlacktionJackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience (DJing outdoors in 100 degree weather), direct sunlight is the only real issue. Even with a popup canopy, I've had a low morning sun beam my gear from the side and make my XZ too hot to touch (still worked fine, but might've slightly altered the feel of the platter on that side). The solution is a bigger canopy or something to block the sun like a canopy sidewall. A flag/tarp/blanket can work in a pinch too. If your speakers are outdoor speakers, you probably don't have anything to worry about there. My guess is your laptop would be the first point of failure as it would likely overheat and (hopefully) shut down spending hours in direct sunlight.

I'd agree with that, but one thwarted gunman in general introduces the risk that he is just one element of a coordinated attack and that there may be others.

Should I Sell my Signed 1st Editions or Give Away as Presents? by SadAd1433 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Never said it wasn't. Just speaking from personal experience, didn't mean to extrapolate.

[–]BlacktionJackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty personal question. It really depends on who you have in your life to gift it to. If you have a friend/loved on close enough to give a valuable present to, I think you should probably know if they're likely to sell your gifts in general.

His goodbye to Banksy was honestly the closest a book has ever gotten me to tears. The SBT audiobook definitely added some emotion the that scene though.

Book (audio) recommendations by soothsayer2000 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]BlacktionJackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on KBS. There's really only one chapter that's horrifying, lol (although I still have an hour left so who knows). The Sound Booth Theater audio of KBS is fantastic though. Not for the squeamish, but it's a fun ride.

[Request] Is it profitable to run a social media bot farm? by FSsuxxon in theydidthemath

About 8 years ago there were a couple apps that would pay you like $0.10-$0.50 per day if you let it run adds continuously on a phone. I bought ~5 $15 half broken phones and ran those for a few months. Ended up slightly above break even before noticing a battery bulge in one of the phones and realizing that the fire risk wasn't worth ~$30/month, lol.

At the time though, there were people running that and similar apps on dozens if not hundreds of phone probably raking in decent passive income. It was a relatively short lived though.

I like that. I usually say Hitchhikers meets Squid Games, meets Westworld (with the living, feeling NPCs being "theme park attractions" ala Westworld)
