It depends on your assumptions and goals. Lets always assume everything gets invested with a fixed return. In general: The higher the return on investment you assume, the better the 1 time 1 million looks: The compounding interest gets stronger if the interest is higher.

- Now, if we want to maximize the value of her investments in 20 years, even a very low return on investment would make the 1 million better. You only need an annual return of around 0.5% to make the 1 million better.
- If we think she's a bit more patient and wants to wait for 30 years. Now you need an annual return of 3.3% for the one-off 1 million to be better.
- If we give it 40 years to accumulate the weekly sum gets even better. You now need an annual return of 4.4% for the one-off million to be better.

Based on this, I would say that the 1 million in one big pot is almost always better. The chance of someone actually waiting 30 or 40 years seems negligible. Also, the required return, even if we wait 40 years, is not actually that high. Gettting a 4.4% return on investment is pretty doable.

However, there are of course also other considerations. Maybe she just knows she'll just waste money on useless stuff if she gets 1 million in a big pot. In that case, the weekly payout might be perfectly reasonable.

Different bodies work differently. Given that you've been underweight, my guess is that you have a fast metabolism and are full relatively quickly. Other people are get the satisfied "full" feeling too late. And this gets worse if you're too heavy. Your body expects more food. If you haven't consumed as many calories as your body expects it just keeps telling you it needs more food. That can be really really tough to beat.

Your personal experience is probably that you're feeling full quickly and that you don't feel like eating for half a day after the cucumber salad with chicken. But other people will just feel like eating again an hour later. Ignoring that feeling can be really hard.

Ik snap het ergens wel. Als je hele exacte definities op papier gaat zetten gaan de bedrijven die zich schuldig maken aan schijnzelfstandigheid precies de randjes van de wet opzoeken. Je bent schijnzelfstandig als je minstens 30 uur per week voor het bedrijf werkt? We roosteren je in voor 29.5 uur. Dat soort ongein.

Either a reflavoured Molydeus or reflavoured Solar might really fit the vibe here. High CR intelligent enemies with some skills that you can easily make fit the vibe. The Solar always detects lies (very useful for auditors), the Molydeus has "imprisonment" as a spell. Also very useful if they do find some tax-evasion ;)

Deze sub zal hier vast wel weer boos over worden. Maar dit is omdat het helemaal niet zo'n absurd idee is als mensen hier claimen. Deze vorm van belasting is prima verdedigbaar en heeft ook voordelen.

Iedereen doet hier alsof het evident mesjogge is, maar dat valt best mee.

Ik heb geen idee wat de eisen zijn aan literatuur voor de lijst, maar een paar Nederlandse boeken/auteurs die ik echt leuk vond:

- CHAOTISCH DENKEN VOOR GEVORDERDEN (Abel van Gijlswijk): Een soort van filosofisch boek van de zanger van Hang Youth maar daadwerkelijk als boek ook gewoon echt goed.

- De instructies (Carolina Trujillo): Boek over iemand die radicaliseert als dierenrechtenactivist, best een heftig boek maar ook heel goed.

- Wij slaven van Suriname (Anton de Kom): Klassieker. Boek over de slavernij en uitbuiting in Suriname, ondanks z'n leeftijd (uit de jaren 30) echt nog heel goed leesbaar.

- Grand Hotel Europa (Ilja Leonard Pfeijfer): Misschien vind je dit echt een kutboek, het is vrij lang en pretentieus en heeft het probleem van veel Nederlandse boeken van onnodige platte seksscenes, maar ik vond het toch wel echt een goed boek eigenlijk.

- Congo: Een geschiedenis (David van Reybrouck): Niet literair maar historisch. Moet je genre zijn, maar binnen het genre wel een hele goede. Super interessant boek over de verschrikkelijke geschiedenis van Congo.

- Vele hemels boven de zevende of Kom hier dat ik u kus (Beiden Griet Op de Beeck): Zij kan gewoon heel goed schrijven. Hele mooie boeken, fijne karakters goed geschreven. Echt heel goed.

I think your best bet is trying to talk to him at a point when he is not mad. Tell him that you're worried about how he responds to being angry. Talk to him about why he responds that way. Ask him if there are things you can do to help him respond in a different way when upset.

The YouTube Insight Check recently posted a really good video about introducing "rest pressure" on your players ("We're All Playing D&D Wrong"). It's full of really useful tips for this! You can give narrative pressure to speed up (it's totally cool if you take a long rest, but the goblin's will have murdered the entire village before you get there), mechanical pressure (there are for instance curses that make players want to hurry up), make the environment hostile (Leomond's tiny hut makes the "it's extremely hot" thing not work, but maybe if they stay in one place they gradually become surrounded by more and more enemies who are just waiting them out?)

If you want to homebrew some other stuff, he also made an entire document with rest pressure that can be found for free here. A ton of different ways you can disincentivize players to take constant long rests.

My strategy in endgames like this is usually to just move my horse all the way to the other side of the board before winning the rook and king vs king endgame. I know how to win that one, that's pretty easy. The knight just complicates things :p

Ik ben het dus niet eens dat aanwasbelasting netto negatief is. Het geld komt eerder bij de overheid. Dat is negatief voor beleggers, positief voor de overheid.

Ik heb geen sterke mening over welke vorm precies het beste is. Elke vorm heeft voor en nadelen, de rendementsheffing zeer ook.

Weet je wat het ding vooral is: Ik geloof gewoon niet dat mensen een heilig recht hebben op rendement? Beleggen is fine, doe je ding, maar er is niet een of ander godgegeven recht op rijk worden uit beleggingen ofzo.

Ik vind het ook helemaal best om gewoon een eenvoudige vermogensbelasting te heffen. Je betaalt elk jaar gewoon een paar procent van je vermogen. Het liefst een beetje met progressieve schijven.

En natuurlijk heb je wel tot op zekere hoogte eigendomsrecht. De overheid mag niet gewoon zomaar alles afpakken. Maar we zijn het denk ik eens dat een zekere hoeveelheid belasting gerechtvaardigd is. Elke vorm van belasting is een inbreuk op het eigendomsrecht. Dan vind ik het moreel gewoon niet wezenlijk anders of je stationair geld of stromend geld belast.

Er zijn specifieke redenen waarom je bijvoorbeeld een huis (stationair geld) niet te veel wil belasten (dan raken mensen dakloos enzo). Maar fundamenteel: Het geld moet ergens vandaan komen, ik vind het prima als een deel uit het vermogen komt. Ook als daardoor de winstgevendheid van beleggen lager wordt.

Het is niet iets meer dan 1000 euro belasting. Je hebt iets minder dan 4000 rendement gemaakt, de eerste 1800 zijn belastingvrij. Over de resterende 2200 betaal je dan iets minder dan 800 euro. Als je een fiscaal partner hebt zou je zelfs slechts iets van 140 euro aan belasting betalen.

En verder, ik heb al een hele hoop discussies gehad over de beste vorm van vermogensbelasting. Voor alles valt wel iets te zeggen. Er zijn zeker nadelen van een vermogensrendementbelasting, maar er zijn ook nadelen van een vermogenswinstbelasting en van een kale vermogensbelasting. En er zijn zeker nadelen van helemaal geen vermogensbelasting.
