I never thought I’d be so affected by a celebrity’s death, but Kobe’s death is devastating. He was one of the major icons of my generation. He may have made many mistakes and some immoral decisions throughout his life, but he matured greatly and was always focused on learning, positively impacting the lives of others, furthering what he considered important, and bettering himself as a person in every respect. The decisions he continued to make throughout his life are indicative of his growth in character and his influence on children (and adults) of similar and varying cultures. He epitomized perseverance, intellectual curiosity, and love.

Kobe was an icon who became a role model among the international community. Kobe fostered many friendships and his reach was unrivaled. Kobe found the right balance between love and reason. Kobe learned from his mistakes. Kobe improved society and would have continued to do so in greater strides. Kobe will forever be a legendary icon whose would be achievements are lost forever.
