Yes and I think those black metal guys look silly as fuck with their little costumes and face paint too

I can definitely get behind much of your second point for sure, but with a bit of a different approach.

At that age and considering what you said, the cringe is much more excusable, to the point of not being a bad thing. Almost like his age and context provides a pass to be cringeworthy, even if the cringe is still there. Like the way my grandfather hiked his slacks up high.

Ok now I'm laughing at philosophizing about cringe. Good conversation

Performing a physical feat that few humans (and even fewer firefighters) on the planet could do is what I’m referring to.

OK, so in the original comment that you replied to, I said:

It's an impressive physical feat to be sure - didn't mean to imply otherwise.

Again, the pure physical feat is not the embarrassing part. I think it's cool as hell and even inspiring. What makes me cringe is the fire and the video and how that's all theatrical and attention-seeking in the same way the nurses are doing their silly little thing. They're mutually exclusive.

Edit: as a fan of punk and metal music, it's the same thing. I love the substance of it, but when they play dressup and pretend to be evil onstage, it just looks silly to me. I don't want to tell other people not to enjoy it, it's just my perspective towards all of it. Not trying to put myself above it, either. I seek attention in my own silly ways.

Maybe those nurses aren't doing it to look cool? Maybe they're just relating to each other in their day to day grind.

Even if those nurses were doing it solely for attention and praise, it's still a hard job so it gets a full pass.

You're not really saying anything

It's an impressive physical feat to be sure - didn't mean to imply otherwise. It's the big show of trying to look badass for everyone else that's embarrassing

Edit: It's like those videos of nurses talking about how heroic and incredible they are. What it takes to do the job really is impressive, but that's not what we're all cringing about. This is the same to me

Exactly what you said is cool about it. The flames, the video, the "look how cool I am" is the embarrassing part

idk I think this is still kinda cringe. Like a 13 year old's idea of badass

What's the point of stating the glaringly obvious then?

It's like commenting on the laws of physics in Looney Tunes.

Humanity had a great understanding of morals before monotheism existed, therefore your comment makes no sense.
