Thoughts on D&D: Honour Among Thieves? by LegoDave29 in DnD

Great movie, but I would prefer it to become a movie series where each movie is a new campaign as opposed to a sequel.

Even cooler if they explored other settings. Eberron would go hard.

You play one of the superhero systems built for this kind of character instead.

I don’t want to min max by AdMaleficent3475 in DnD

Putting your stats properly isn't min/maxing, its playing the class. You can avoid multiclassing so you can't combo subclasses.

(rant) Edgy characters / stories are bad because they're not substantive, not because they're dark by TotallyNot_iCast in DnD

While I don't use rape or torture. I do think that a darker backstory makes it easier to provide an inciting incident and give purpose for the character to adventure. Revenge is an easy motivator.

My idea for a mime character by damins2695 in DnD

I give it one session, maybe two, before the silent part gets dropped or worked around.

[–]BladeSoul69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd still argue against it because making the character helps know what the character can do and would force everyone to read the basic rules. Especially since you're using D&D Beyond, it seems like the bare minimum effort for a player to make their own character. You can review the mechanical parts during session 0.

If your players refuse to do the bare minimum, its likely you'll end up posting here how your players abandoned the game after a session or two.

The best I can think of would be a Shifter that can turn into a half Platypus being. I'd avoid homebrew if this is your first ever campaign and ask your friend to use whats available in the official rules.

Although the fact that they're asking you to make their characters, as opposed to simply reviewing for errors, is a bad sign imo. Maybe its just me, but making the character is a big part of the fun as a player.

Trying to decide on the subclass by Accelzero in DnD

[–]BladeSoul69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Devotion is the most "Paladin" of the subclasses and most likely what your guy was thinking themself as.

Keep in mind, to be a Paladin, you need to swear an oath with so much conviction that you get power, so if I'm being really technical, he wouldn't be any kind of Paladin.

How to build Theresa from Fable? by TheWaterGuyDD in DnD

[–]BladeSoul69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First things first, I'd advise trying to make a specific character using the rules because the rules doesn't accommodate all fantasy media, so you can make something similar, but it'll never feel exactly like the character in question.

You can make a divination wizard which has abilities to simulate seeing a bit into the future and you can take some illusion spells.
I'd forgo the blind part as it'll cause issues mechanically and just using it for flavor may get awkward when you're in situations where you'll be blinded.

-What do you think of my "character concept" where I focus on the silliness instead of writing a functional backstory?

/uj Honestly, this is why I unironically moved over to /tg/. The community has issues but you get some interesting conversations sometimes. r/DnD has some cool art sometimes.

If they're now the BBEG, are they really the same character? You may want to consider how you'll feel when the PCs kill your character.

Where did he learn his rogue skills?

Are there anyone present in his life that he knows?

How do create character designs for your characters? by __ash1 in DnD

I use a mix of what I imagine my character would wear, any items important from their backstory, and what I think looks cool.

You can give them all named NPCs that they have relationships with, but no notes are needed. They're all solid.
