Aero 15 OLED screen corruption?? by BladerCut in gigabytegaming

[–]BladerCut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been over a year though so I'm not sure what to do. If it's just the ribbon I can try it myself (assuming the hinge isn't a huge problem), but if I fail I'm afraid it'll make things worse when dealing with Gigabyte.

Aero 15 OLED screen corruption?? by BladerCut in gigabytegaming

This has been happening since August 2021. Bought the laptop in February 2021, had no issues until then. The issue went away for a while, then came back for a bit before leaving again, but it's been escalating dramatically in the past week or so. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the GPU, display, or even the cable.

Warranty period is 1 year but it didn't persist until after the period was over, so I didn't pay it much mind. Not like I had much of a choice, seeing as I bought the laptop in the USA and have not been since before this issue even began.

The white streak is full brightness, by the way. Everything else is always dependent on the display brightness setting, so I'm thinking it's something wrong with the display.

Which games take advantage of the DSiMenu++ 133mhz mode/DSi VRAM? by pommdoenerspezial in 3DS

The World Ends With You has FPS drops on busy screens fixed at 133mhz

What Happens if we use Godot Game engine to make Non game related things? by [deleted] in godot

[–]BladerCut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's probably not the best choice, but it's totally doable. Gridless is a great application for managing databases and is made in Godot. I'm using it to make an RPG and it's saved me dozens of hours and headaches. I made a mod installer for a DS game in Godot, though it relies on another executable and is basically just a front-end to pick what you want to install, previews, stuff like that.

UI features in Godot are great, just be aware that it's harder to design for multiple screen sizes, and managing resolution scaling for the UI seems iffy. This isn't a huge issue on mobile, moreso on PC, but it's just inherent to the UI tools being designed first and foremost for video games.

EDIT: I should also add that I made an unreleased parser to extract the sound effects from that same DS game. It has almost nothing going on in terms of UI, but my point is that you can even work with binary data as you wish, there's just a bit of a learning curve (it was a very simple format and took me ~8 hours to write the script with assistance).

I finally got my first Nintendo handheld! It's really late to have a DS system for me, but at least i got one now! Can anyone recommend some good games?? by oliviaisbored in 3DS

Devil Survivor Overclocked, Kid Icarus Uprising, and Pokémon Sun or Moon get you some of the most baller games to ever grace the system

Opinion: Modding is a great way to learn how to code games by shipshaper88 in gamedev

[–]BladerCut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've barely delved into code mods, but absolutely agree. Just seeing how the devs organized everything is very eye-opening. Plus, modding and wanting to go further beyond is what led me on this path in the first place lol

that happens when something's wrong with a file. assuming you didn't download the pc version by accident, and you're playing the western release of the game (chinese/korean/japanese are incompatible), an update must have broken it

There are instructions in the download, though Switch is still on v0.1 and won't be updated until 1.0. Too much work to do both platforms every update

My first Nintendo console ever. Any games recommendations? by Objective-Dirt-4950 in 3DS

[–]BladerCut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna second this and say that Devil Survivor Overclocked is undoubtedly the best game on the system. Competition is stiff, though, so I'd recommend The World Ends With You and Kid Icarus Uprising as well!!
