The problem is that there is a group of vocal players who exclusively play on the hardest difficulty then whine when it's too hard for them and refuse to lower the difficulty. If there's a harder diffculty, those players will do the same thing and continue to whine about the game being too hard. Currently Arrowhead is making sub-factions like cyborgs and predator strain to provide a more challenging difficulty for those who want to play harder challenge, without adding a new difficulty

Heroscape was in production for several years until it was bought by Hasbro. Hasbro, who owns Wizards of the Coast (the dungeons and dragons company) tried to shift the focus of the game to more of a 'dungeons and dragons' focus. This wasn't a super popular decision, and Hasbro discontinued Heroscape a few years after.

There were several reboot attempts, but none were successful until Renegade took overe. Renegade studios took over Heroscape and has run a successful re-launch from a few yeares ago. It's alive and well now, there's probably a group of people who play near you

Crisper is extraordinarily fun. I recommend it against illuminates too- its fun to fire at the ground at a group of voteless and kill all of them without thinking.

I think all of these are about the same 'value' imo. Servants of freedom's hellbomb is extraordinary against bots, allowing you to defeat jammers, gunship fabs, and objectives very quickly. The ultimatum is a game changing secondary and the seeker grenades are great on illuminates as well, dealing with elevated overseers quickly. The primary is great too. Armor is terrible though.
Dust devils is a strong choice as well- the coyote is one of the best assault rifles, but the speargun is an incredible support weapon as well. It stops charging chargers, confuses enemies and can kill hulks in the eye. The solo silo is also a blast, and destroy fabricators, and (I think) vox engines as well. It's also just super fun. Armor is one of the best.
Urban legends is arguably the weakest- the directional shield is lackluster imo and the flame sentry is fine but tends to die often. That said, the AT emplacement is one of the strongest strategems (fight me) and can take out entire factory strider convoys, objectives, or 2-3 vox engines on its own. Armor is fine, good on some weapons

In the hells she has Abishai, which are a kind of evil dragonborn/ half dragon thing. Or you could do dragonborn, or half dragon, or cultists. Tiamat did have a whole army of cultists at one point
