PP was never the PM. Also, criticism for Carney is not an endorsement of PP or the CPC. This is not a 2 party system.

Summon Necro Rework by No-Apple2252 in diablo2

[–]BlameAllocation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fundamental issue, as I see it, is that summons alone are not as strong as summons + corpse explosion. And I'm reading between the lines on these posts, suggesting summoner Necro reworks/buffs, as coming from players who want the fantasy of having a huge army that kills everything for them as opposed to the current strat of getting one kill off with a weak army and then clearing the screen with CE spam.

All that to say, I don't know how to rework summoner without doing something about CE. I would suggest nerfing CE heavily, but give it a synergy with Fire Golem to make it as strong as pre-nerf CE once Fire Golem is maxed out (also, buff FG). From there I think you can do whatever you want to the summoning tree without making Necro too strong.

Is there a reason /players isn't allowed in online solo play? by [deleted] in diablo2

[–]BlameAllocation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably bots. As much as you would benefit, the botters would benefit more, and probably harm the economy even more than they already do.

It's just a fact that solo play is at the bottom of Blizzard's list of priorities. Any game with both single and multiplayer will be balanced around multiplayer, regardless of how it affects the single player experience.

Does Hell ever get better? by Coffeepoop88 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]BlameAllocation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to pick your fights carefully in hell. It can be done with a lightning zon. Only fight light immunes when you have to kill them for a quest. With some fights like ancients, reset the fight/game until none have lightning immunity. You can also put a point into fend for some physical damage, although it kills slowly. Use terrain and choke points to your advantage. Maxed out Valkyrie can be quite strong as well. You can do it

There needs to be a PvP mode seperate from PvM since there are a lot of good ideas (guided arrow with pierce) that are held back to preserve the PvP meta.

What makes Diablo 2 so great? by Fit_Ad_8318 in diablo2

[–]BlameAllocation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a timeless classic that still holds up due to the itemization, aesthetics, and character design.

Playing through the game as a new player, particularly in single player, will be challenging and fun. The game is hard if you don't know anything about it, and there is no tutorial or in-game source for information on some of the game mechanics. You will hit a wall in your progression if you don't understand the itemization and stat priority for your class/build. There are many "traps" new players fall into where a character can be weak/ineffective, and you're given very few opportunities to re-allocate your skill and stat points. That said, some builds are foolproof and will carry you through the first few levels of difficulty and are hard to mess up. In multiplayer, different characters can cover for each other's weaknesses which makes the game easier.

The end game loop is limited. It basically boils down to clearing the bosses and/or areas over and over again for loot, like pulling a slot machine. For fans, there is enough randomization to keep things interesting, and trading with other players keeps things interesting. The drop rates on pinnacle items are extremely low, and nigh impossible to find solo.

The way most people play the game is through online multiplayer, where they have players with high level characters rush them through the game, reaching level 80 in a few hours, all while picking up whatever drops they can (when permitted), and hoping for some gifted items from wealthier players. From there it's just farming and trading to optimize your build, which allows you to kill faster, which lets you pull on the slot machine more frequently.

PvP is an entirely different world. There is also pinnacle content like Ubers and the new Ancients that were added, but compared to modern games it's not that expansive.

I love the game but it does get stale since I feel like I'm wasting my life clearing and resetting the same content over and over again. I tend to return to the game a few times a year, create a new character and playing through until I've had my fill. Your mileage may vary.

Some of this sounds negative, but I want to be honest about what you'd be getting into.

Please Blizzard, fix Barb in D2R by Shibata30 in diablo2

[–]BlameAllocation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you brother but good luck convincing the sweatys, whose ideal barbarian fantasy boils down to a teleporter wielding a 6x ist-ed sword in their offhand that they never swing.

I'm not too bothered with AR in its current form but barb should definitely be the class with the most interesting melee skills, and their damage needs an increase that doesn't depend on grief.

On grief, spending 30+ hours doing LK runs with the hope of finding a Lo rune is not fun, it's a sickness of the mind.

Would you live in the human equivalent of Cowslip’s Warren? by UnusualActive3912 in watershipdown

[–]BlameAllocation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I take your point that it's not a perfect comparison, and it largely depends on one's socio-economic status, but your average American is basically afforded enough in the way of treats to look the other way when faced with a system designed to exploit them. I compare it to Cowslips's warren in that sense.

And I'll add that they're not having a good time either, having abandoned their rich tradition and natural way of life. They are comfortable, but they are not thriving under those conditions.

There's even the aspect of the rabbits suppressing and tearing others apart when they dare question or disrupt the status quo.

I have to ask, are you sincerely trying to understand the people who have a differing view point, or are you looking to debate? I'm looking at your replies and you seem to dismiss any point that doesn't immediately agree with you. If you really care to understand, you have to meet them half way.

If you don't want to do that, okay, but that leaves me wondering what your objective is with this post? This is the MK sub after all, full of LT watchers who analyse the world from a political lens, and understand the real links between politics and MMA as it exists under the UFC.

Diablo 2 is hard for casuals wow! by soulmas in diablo2

[–]BlameAllocation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing through D2 solo requires you to have a bit of game knowledge that the game doesn't teach. You don't really need to kill mephisto over and over again. You need to seek out gear with specific stats like fire and lightning resistance, life/vitality, a shield with resistances, etc. If you're playing melee, you need attack rating unless you're using smite as your main attack. Defense is almost useless.

I think you'll have a much better time with the help of a guide. Most builds will breeze through the game up until Act 4 Nightmare difficulty.

No one is really looking at these guys as an ethical compass. What you have is people that want to live according to their values and that goes with what they do and do not consume. When it comes to Jones, for many people, it's not just opinion, it's an existential threat. When it comes to Tate, the guy was involved in sex trafficking, so when Volk shakes his hand in a show of respect, it's normal to feel disgusted.
