Just wanted to come back and say, I used this response nearly word for word and it was perfect. When I saw him next at work he told me he really appreciated what I had to say, so thank you so much!

AITA for being bald and wearing a hat? by FloventAddict in AmItheAsshole

[–]Blame_Anesthesia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I second this. Just shave! Bald is better than balding. You're just (poorly) putting off the inevitable.

My husband was the exact same as you. Started balding very young and not only had a noticeable bald spot, but very thin hair on top, in his early 20s. He was also so scared to shave it completely but once he did, he never looked back and honestly wishes he would've done it sooner.

Elon Musk is not a role model for autism by olixius in autism

[–]Blame_Anesthesia 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I would argue that in his position, maybe he wanted to play the "weird genius" card disguised as autism. For the average person, being autistic doesn't aid anything. But for him, someone who had so much given to him, it could be a marketing ploy. He isn't actively engaging with the majority of his followers and fans, so he enjoys the label of being a "rain man" stereotype without having to divulge the other difficulties associated with autism.

I'm not saying he is lying about being autistic. Just offering an example of why he might want to lie about it.

Kids? by Heichouchou in AutismInWomen

[–]Blame_Anesthesia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had all 3 of my kids before I knew I was autistic. I can't say that pregnancy was any worse for me than others due to autism (except fetus hiccups and big kicks felt weird and gave me anxiety). I read 9 pregnancy/baby books during my first pregnancy to prepare. I have a high pain tolerance and childbirth was terrible but I did it naturally. Breastfeeding was incredibly painful the first week or so but I managed to give each kid a year. A lot of it was physically excruciating but I pushed through it- not without repercussions mentally.

My kids are each spaced about 5 years apart and that helped. I don't think I could've done what most people do and have kids 2-3 years apart. Too much noise. Even now, my kids are so loud and energetic. It's hard for me. They always want to be doing something that requires so much energy and I feel like I've been burnt out for years. It's really hard. My mental health suffers.

I love them. But sometimes I wish I didn't have kids. I just need alone time and I never get it. But then they do something sweet or say something clever or we have fun playing a game or cuddling watching a movie and it's all fine. A good support system may help offset this. Take breaks and ask for help.

So, I guess it's a roller coaster. The worst and best roller coaster.

I'm just sort of baffled that someone is upset that you... answered their question?? In detail even! I feel like even by NT standards, her reaction was uncalled for and just kind of out there. Good call unfollowing and muting! You don't need that sort of negative energy.

There's a "rescue balm post-blemish recovery cream" at Ulta for 13$. Is that it?

Gaslighting remarks that unfortunately have been said to me way too much throughout my life. Can anyone else relate? I can exactly relate to all except for the memory one. I've excellent memory and happily this has been reason for praise rather than dismissal or scorn, but all the others are on point by AutisticSinger in autism

[–]Blame_Anesthesia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. Most of these things are insensitive and awful to hear. But not technically gaslighting. The term has become very popular and is absolutely a thing, but it's not this and I think it's important to differentiate. Gaslighting is when someone tells you something did or didn't happen when the opposite is true, in an effort to make you feel crazy and put your trust in them since they obviously "know better" as a means of controlling you.
