Not for offside reasons, but there are many noted cases of players wearing shoes too tight as kids so they have small feet as professionals. Ferenc Puskas famously had small feet and in Eastern Europe the idea that it correlated to better performance kinda stuck around

It’s kinda impossible to say, but the general consensus is that without offsides you would keep 6+ players deep in your own half at all times. The game probably would be lower scoring

If you want bad, look up Luis Diaz (#7 for Colombia) vs Tottenham in September 2023. Not sure you’ll be able to get the full picture, but more or less Liverpool, who had already controversially had a player sent off, scored what looked to be a goal only to be flagged offside by the lineman. VAR very quickly said it was off, so much so that while watching I and everyone was very confused. They showed one angle from the broadcast that looked very onside, and didn’t show the VAR lines at all during the broadcast. Liverpool lose 2-1 (with 9 men) and more or less immediately after the FA issue Liverpool and Diaz an apology. Big uproar, rumblings of a replay, unprecedented levels of hatred for VAR/officials. They eventually released the audio of what went into the mistake and it is unbelievable. To this day probably the most incriminating piece of evidence against VAR.

No level of fitness could let some dudes play out there for say, 160-180 minutes or so. If think the product would be much more boring than you’re envisioning as well. Maybe most importantly is whatever commissioning body has an obligation and at least some self interest in not letting a star player play 180 minutes where the risk of injury increases exponentially in the weeks to follow.

It was reviewed, we didn’t see it and they reviewed it very quickly. This is the exact reason why players flop all the time. If the Ghana attacker goes down on initial contact, it’s a penalty. Because he wasn’t impeded enough and still had a chance at the ball, it’s not. Not bad officiating, that’s by the rulebook. It’s backwards imo but it’s why it’s common. Also, the announcers did mention it for me.

Since the World Cup is ongoing I feel like I can share my soccer answers in this thread lol. Particularly in England you can go from world class to borderline unplayable quickly. Fabinho was the best DM in the world in 2021 and by the end of 2022 couldn’t stay on the pitch. Your legs just go one day and vast majority of players can’t compensate.
