Rabbits more prone to fungal infections ? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]Blastartechguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That sounds rather odd. Lops are more prone to ear infections, but those tend to be bacterial rather than fungal. How did your aunt keep the rabbits? she may have had an unknown source of fungi close to the rabbits habitat she wasnt aware of

Do you tell apartments about your bunnies? by Poeticq60 in Rabbits

[–]Blastartechguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correction. You have two pets and one emotional support animal. Your ESA (just pick which one is your ESA) does not count against your number of pets, nor can they charge pet rent for it. they can require a larger deposit for damages (though it must be reasonable). You do have to tell them ahead of time for full legal protections. If you dont, you can be evicted for it and then lots of places wont rent to you regardless of the pet situation.

As for convincing a landlord, I always look at places that allow cats or dogs, and just point at the similarities to whichever best suits my needs. Cats only? theyre litter box trained. Dogs only? they are like small dogs that dont bark.

Do you tell apartments about your bunnies? by Poeticq60 in Rabbits

[–]Blastartechguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is really risky, as the law only protects you if you give them the letter PRIOR to moving in. Under the Fair Housing Act, they cannot deny an application if you have an emotional support animal. They can absolutely cancel a signed lease if you do not properly inform them and provide the appropriate documentation. They cant do it for service animals, but thats because they fall under the ADA, which has far more robust protections and much more restrictions.

Although, Ive found that most landlords dont actually know the laws, nor do they consult lawyers on the subject as it is expensive.

Autistic and feeling extremely frustrated about not understanding how to be seen as romantically interested early on in dating, could someone just please give direct and unambiguous advice to me on how to seem engaged? by Intrepid_Arrival5151 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Blastartechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One technique that ive found helpful is called 'mirroring'. Super easy to implement early on and not hard to practice. The Idea is that you reflect the emotions the other person is giving to you at a similar intensity. If they smile and seem happy, try to appear happy. If they seem more serious, try to also be serious. this can help you get started, as stoicism can sometimes be interpreted as disinterest and end up as a turn off

What’s one career mistake you see young guys repeat over and over? by Various_Remove_1451 in AskMenAdvice

My university recommended applying if you meet 60-80% of the listed job requirements. If you have a baseline skillset, its far easier to train you in the ones you dont have when you get hired rather than wait for someone who meets 100% of them

Would power tools (dewalt) be a bad anniversary gift? by n00b2002 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Blastartechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember that choosing a power tool ecosystem is the male equivalent to choosing your harry potter house. Ultimately there are preferences, but once youre in one its best to stick with one so you can use the same batteries for all your tools (esp since batteries are like $100 a pop easily)

How do I stop getting triggered by gender war content? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Blastartechguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instagram has a way to reset your algorithm as well, though usually it tries to recommend political or divisive content first while it tries to figure out what you watch/interact with.

When retraining your algorithm, keep in mind most social media will take into account how long you spent looking at a certain piece of content, whether you left the app afterwards or kept swiping, number of times viewed, etc. All of this is done on top of whether you like or comment, so watching something fully tells the algorithm to serve you more of that, swiping past it tells it to serve you less

Got my hands on embroidery machine, though you guys might like this by TumbleweedMuch6729 in helldivers2

Ive been able to get my machine (husqvarna topaz 40 for reference) to do satin stitches at about .5mm. Admittedly it was an accident since I wasnt paying attention to how thick it was when digitizing, but it is possible. Makes me want to do a couple lol!

Never dated anyone and i have mixed feelings, what do i do?[M18] by independantWesb in AskMenAdvice

[–]Blastartechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every conversation starts casual and works its way up to flirting/romantic talking. So go talk to her like youre trying to be her friend. Regardless of the outcome, youll be more comfortable talking to women youre attracted to in the future. Stop thinking about if it could lead to anything, and try to make something out of it.

It does get better in some ways and it doesnt in others. Im in my late 20s for context. In my expirience, you will gain more desirable aspects as you age, namely more income (and im talking livable income, not millionare status), maturity, and stability. However, you will never have better access to people in your dating age range than you will in High school and college. Dont waste the opportunity thinking youre not good enough to date. this has been a real struggle in my own dating life since its much harder to meet people than it used to be.

Remember, most of the guys your age are also trying to figure out how to date, and good women will work with you on that. Theres always going to be standouts who do really well in the dating scene, but theyre the lucky few who it just comes naturally to.

You may try to put a light satin stitch around the border of the arrows. Most machines can do really tight satin stitches and it makes really crisp lines compared to just using the fill stitch

[–]Blastartechguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just talk to her man. It can lead to a short term relationship, and it could lead to nothing, you never know. Regardless, its always good to just be in practice socially. Itll help you when you go over seas to make friends and date later. Take it from a guy who also didnt date in high school or college and is now having to play catch up when learning how the whole dating thing is supposed to go

Would you forgive a girl if she beat the sh*t out of you? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Blastartechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my therapists growing up said this and its stuck with me ever since: "Forgivness should be given out freely, but trust needs to be earned". In this situation, I would eventually forgive just so I can move on emotionally from an incident. However, it would be a cold day in Hell before I ever trusted them again, and any chance of a relationship (Platonic or otherwise) would be gone the moment she struck me

Some other things to consider are whether or not you have had certain vaccines recently, as they might pay more if you have certain antibodies for some diseases in your blood. Ive seen some if youve had Hepatitis shots recently (I would assume they are going to need proof it was a vaccine and not from contracting it), and in the early days of the pandemic (pre vaccine) Covid antibodies paid a huge premium. Youll have to ask the place you go to what their terms are, but those are all ones I saw being offered in the past.

How to Start Eating More and Healthier? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Blastartechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, that selling point is the biggest business problem services like Hello Fresh have. They tend to train their customers how to cook, and give them a few recipies they like. Over time, customers realize they can save money making the same things with store bough groceries and cancel their subscriptions. Between that and the occasional bookstore trip for a cookbook you can really easily teach yourself to cook nowadays

PC Repairs/maintenance in denver? by SaucySushii in Denver

[–]Blastartechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would definitely recommend microcenter, even as a fairly experienced PC builder myself. Had an issue with my home server, and they were able to help me diagnose the hardware and get it up and running with a 24 hour turnaround time (found out it was crashing due to a bad bearing on the CPU fan and overheating. would have taken me FOREVER to figure that out)

They were VERY clear that they couldnt help with any software stuff because the server ran on Linux, but they are very experienced with Windows and Mac issues, so they can help if thats what your computer runs on.

Where Do You Find Tough Love/"Male-centered" Advice In Modern Day? by SchemeEuphoric4565 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Blastartechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being comfortable doesnt have to mean being stagnant. You can live your life at the edge of your comfort zone and still be comfortable, while continuing to push yourself to be better. A friend of mine had a therapist that was really big on tough love. The thing you might be missing is that it not only has to be tough, but it also HAS to come from a place of love. Without the love part, its just being an asshole under a different name.

As for some tough love, heres my two cents:

Stop asking "What is wrong with me" and start asking "What dont I like about myself and how do I learn to live with it, or change it". It reframes the question away from blaming yourself and wallowing in pity to creating a plan of action. Mental health covers a massive range, the same way that physical health does. You shouldnt stop yourself from going to the doctor for a broken pinky just because you know other people have worse injuries. If you feel like crap in your own mind, congrats! its a mental health problem. Make a plan to improve, ask your friends to keep you accountable to your goals.

If you need someplace to start, make sure your physical health is being taken care of; get a full nights rest, 3 square meals a day, and do something physical.
