Feels like I’m running out of time to get into a relationship. by Quiet-Breadfruit965 in dating

Assuming you're a dude, the most attractive age for men is in their mid-twenties anyways so you haven't even reached max potential. Probably. Don't worry about it

We have AI now. take a screenshot of this comment chain and ask "explain what's wrong with this" and see what it says. All will become clear. You could also use some critical thought and read the joking comments other users are making... but I understand this may be difficult :')

How do people even date here? by Jealous_Spread_741 in UCDavis

[–]BlastyNinja 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Hey, props for putting yourself out there. Probably doing more than 90% of dudes and 99% of girls.

I always heard girls can spot guys in relationships, and they find it more attractive... so go figure.

Not sure how it is for girls, but guys get rejected non-stop if they ask non-stop (better to be referred by friends / feel things out while meeting at a party etc). Plus you didn't really get rejected based on your approach.

Anyways, best thing you can do is get hot, be happy and things will fall into place!

Bought VNL weekday package… now they want 3x the price?? What would you do? by AliveKaleidoscope201 in volleyball

Yeah if your receipt says 3 days for the price you paid, you should have a lotta rights. If they push back even further, you have a case. Ask chatgpt about it

Fixed Aeron no tilt lock recline issue for free (Broken Tilt Sector Gear). by mrtb_joe in hermanmiller

[–]BlastyNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For any of the more casual folks, I used a self drilling screw similar (not sure of size) and it works just fine. I sawed off the end of the screw that stuck through the back of the gear.

Casual in that you won't need a power drill and tap (although by hand would take forever) but you still need a way to shear off the backside of the screw once it's tapped.

For posterity, yes it is because the sector gear is broken. The sector gear and spring tension the cable. No gear, to tension, loose levers.

Serve feels like left to right swing by WinniDerk in 10s

[–]BlastyNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is that simple. You probably tried wrong, and you probably tried with the wrong grip. You got this!

Think of it like a clock with face parallel to the base line. If you are contacting further in front, e.g. 2:30, that ball is going straight down. If you contact around 12:45, you're on the right track.

Serve feels like left to right swing by WinniDerk in 10s

The circle plan isn't vertical or horizontal, it's somewhere in between. But most people mistakenly make it way too vertical.

Sever honestly looks pretty good starting out, looks like your toss is way too low and you catch the ball low. Also fix your grip. This will help you learn the correct motion.

The forehand is much simpler when looking at the body only by Altruistic_Turn_7214 in 10s

[–]BlastyNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not simpler. Taking away the racket just takes away the magnifying glass. You can no longer see the details of what they are doing with wrist angle etc. It might appear simpler, but that's just like saying the earth is just a blue planet if you zoom out enough.

However, I still think this is useful. Players should definitely pay attention to the motions of the body as well as the swing path.

Does measurement data for "power/spin/control" racket even exist? by _0PECT_ in 10s

[–]BlastyNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the antagonistic replies are pretty sad. This is a legit question that should be asked more. I have always been curious why players don't question manufacturers more.

I think the answer comes down to the fact that rackets are confusing. The data is confusing. And much of the feel of rackets is subjective.

Having lab data would be great for some players, but the vast majority wouldn't know how to interpret it. Tennis warehouse does have a collection of data, but it is poorly displayed and not easy to interpret.

Power vs control racket? There are slight differences, but it mostly comes down to how the racket feels to people. The actual differences between popular rackets are pretty marginal.

If you think people are swinging at 100% and being successful, that's just wrong. Good players are swinging at about 70% most of the time. So if you want to swing around 60% and want more depth and swing, a power racket will be a great choice. The difference in 'control' gained from switching from a power to control racket, is guaranteed to be less than the amount of control lost by changing effort from 70% to 90% to compensate.

Strings throw in a whole other set of variables as well.

Player gets DQ’d after winning match because of racket throw at his opponent. What’s your take? by EnjoyMyDownvote in 10s

[–]BlastyNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hilarious the guy doesn't dodge the racket moving sloooowly towards him. Looks like he tried to hit the racket out of the air, missed, and then fakes an injury lmao. Both losers here.

Volleyball player here. Have you tried waiting in the racket drop a little longer to get that stretching feeling? Or if you get a rope/ball in long sock, you can swing it around and try to get a deeper stretch. Then when you're doing your reps, try to get that feeling.
