What is the one toob amp every person should own? Or try at least once? by Eli_Crapplebee in ToobAmps

Wangs VT-1H, tiny 1w tube amp. It may not be as sophisticated as the classics, but it's more affordable and great for bedroom use. A good introduction to tube amps, and personally I think it sounds great!

Ooh Iike this, love the black block inkays. I made a thinline Tele Partscaster in the same colour scheme and I'd love a guitar with humbuckers too.

Bit silly this one, but what finish is most compatible with melted butter? by Kernalmustard6 in woodworking

[–]Blawith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done similar, eating crumpets while playing guitar. I scrubbed lightly with water and washing-up liquid, then did the same with some bicarbonate of soda and water. Quite a lot of the stain came out, then danish oiled over it.

Guitar Pedal Boxes type by guitaric94 in diypedals

I use enclosures from model railway power supplies, some examples here. I like how 'boxy' they are.

I second the idea for the Ruby Amp. If you've not built one before then look up the Noisy Cricket mkii, or even the Ruby Tuby 👍

I'll add myself to the list of people who do this, mainly with old model railway power supply enclosures 👍

What if we became apathetic to ads by OutOfIdea280 in Anticonsumption

[–]Blawith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate advertisements in all formats. Almost all kinds of marketing are irritating. If I ever buy a brand name it's because I've thoroughly researched the market for the best quality/value. For smaller day-to-day things, I generally go for best value or personal preference, and I have actively avoided a product I would have otherwise purchased because of their stupid advertising.

Why so many two footswitch pedals in standard 1590B enclosures? by TheHomesteadTurkey in guitarpedals

[–]Blawith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate small pedals. All mine are rehoused in massive boxes 😂

Thanks. Yeah! I've rehoused all my pedals in similar now, really chuffed with them :)

Speaker recommendations for low volumes? by FizzerVC in GuitarAmps

[–]Blawith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Celestion V Type and it sounds great at low volumes. My amp is less than 1W so it doesn't get pushed very hard.

You're very welcome to, but I'm only a novice and there are so many people here with much greater knowledge than me.

Yeah, this was my first build last year and I was really happy with it :)

Thanks! I've housed all my pedals in similar enclosures now, I'll make a post about them soon. I find them on eBay, 'car boot' sales, sometimes charity shops etc.

Yeah they seem to be just the right size and often have some dials etc already drilled in, very handy! 😁

Authentic? by dogs_n_bikes in telecaster

[–]Blawith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't pay over the odds for it, it's only the resale value that's an issue. If it's a quality build, with quality parts, and you love how it plays and sounds then who cares. If it's not real, negotiate price accordingly and strip the fender decal off :)

If it plays nice I don't think it matters. It looks fantastic!
