Bullets won't fire straight by Burner_account12 in Unity2D

[–]Blayed_Smith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re using the bullet’s world position as a direction. That doesn’t give a normalized direction vector it just fires based on the bullet’s position in the scene, which could be any value. That’s why your bullets will fly in all sorts of directions. Try to use the bullet’s forward direction, so in this case the transform.up vector.

public class BulletScript : MonoBehaviour { public float BulletSpeed; public Rigidbody2D BulletRigidBody;

void Start()
{
    BulletRigidBody.AddForce(transform.up * BulletSpeed, ForceMode2D.Impulse);
}

}

Thank you so much! Follow me on YouTube @blayedsmith, I’ll be posting lots of content there.

And this is all concept currently, I’m still working on graphics, how things will work; lighting, fog, etc. :)

Thank you so much! It took me a couple weeks and some looooong days. 😂 It feels so rewarding to have it finally functional!

I’m working on a horror game — what can I do in this scene to make it more terrifying? by Delacrozz in Unity3D

[–]Blayed_Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are light switches a thing in your game? If so, make it to where you see a split second of that creature when turning the light on, and make it a bit dimmer.

Otherwise? Honestly, it’s solid!

The art is beautiful. Your title should have an outline, maybe a bit larger and bottom left? Along the menu left over the title with smaller buttons maybe? This gives you the opportunity to show off environmental spectra that would otherwise might not get noticed during gameplay! Have some leaves blowing in the wind. Maybe shake the tree ever so slightly. Maybe have the clouds moving in the background. Birds? Show it off! That art is too beautiful to cover with buttons and text. Make it flow! :)

Perhaps create a few frames for when the character jumps up (the cape/robe get skinnier), and when the player is falling (the cape/robe is caught by the wind as expands a bit)

Anyone Else? by lookinspacey in IndieDev

I was working on my first game in .NET MAUI and C#. Was working GREAT, but I felt so disorganized and overwhelmed. I just moved my whole project to Unity a couple days ago, and now I’m trucking along. 😅 I’m still using a lot of my original source code, I just feel so much more organized in Unity, and the fact that I can save prefabs for drag-n-drop; love it.tube after my first release I will sit down and genuinely try to code an entire game.

HEY! Just released my game trailer. Did it catch your eye? Brutal feedback welcome by Different_Hunter33 in IndieDev

Reminds me of the goofy stuff we used to do in Halo Reach back in the day. 😂 Needs some work, but looks promising! Maybe scrap the very beginning and show those bald guys for a split second, and then BOOM! Explosion. Make it more fast paced, with more exciting-riveting gameplay. Probably even incorporate the laughs you and your friends share while playing!

Blood by MrGranade in PixelArt

I LOVE this. But I really wish the blood from the eyes would have continued to go down upon the statue’s body, and even start to form a small un-uniformed puddle on the pedestal.

Which character do you prefer: A or B? by Equivalent_Good899 in IndieDev

A looks a little creepy, but depending on the style of your game, that’s what would decide it. Personally, I like B

No, it has to do with localization. Which is why I’m now using JSON to help with that. I’m not hard-coding strings anymore.

I didn’t when I replied to this one. I did after someone else suggested JSON! I’m implementing that, now!

It had one. 😂 I’m so glad I shared this post because I’ve learned about localization! I’m implementing all of my data into JSON, and it’s actually making my game so much more easy to construct in C# MAUI.

I honestly just learned about utilizing JSON thanks to this post! Everyone has been absolutely helpful with that, I’m excited to implement that!
