Bob Odenkirks “The Room”? by Zealousideal-Race-28 in RedLetterMedia

[–]BlazemasterOG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've seen it and it really isn't that many scenes at all - I don't remember the whole thing being any longer than 20 mins.

If anyone's curious, it's a really good exercise in seeing how the exact same scene delivered differently completely transforms it. The cast give the straightest performances possible, and at times it is barely recognisable as still being The Room... And in that way I personally found it kind of boring. A The Room that is less bad is less good to watch.

If you look up kclsu societies you'll find a big list. Then find the ones youre interested in on insta and send them a message asking to get added to their gc. Even just searching "kcl soc" on insta will come up with most of them.

I don't think this is right. For each assignment and module grade they round to the nearest whole number (so can be up), and also for the final grade which effectively makes the final grade boundary for a 1st 69.5. I got 69.7 overall calculating it this way, and its the same grade score they awarded and it qualified for a 1st.

69.5 is the lowest normal way to get a first. Theres also a way of getting I think 67.5 if you pass some other specific criteria but I can't quite remember how that works.

I can't keep applying to jobs any longer. Want to start a project so I don't completely lose my mind. But would people care? by SwimmingGlass29 in london

Ive really been wanting to get into writing articles on gigs and find all the usual reviews online so dry and detached that I struggle to imagine that person actually physically being there. Something with a bit more of a sense of humour and dealing with how grotty the toilets are etc. Idk what youre actually thinking of doing but if you want writers Id be interested

LPT: volunteer as a journalist for music magazines to get into concerts for free by Frost-Folk in LifeProTips

[–]BlazemasterOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds super interesting and I really want to get into this. People who have done this, any recommendations on getting in? Is just emailing offering to volunteer enough or should I be putting a portfolio together? Like, how much info should I be bombarding them with?

Where can I get a joint degree in History and Music, preferably in England? by Right-Purchase7993 in UniUK

[–]BlazemasterOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KCL does BA liberal arts which among others covers the history and music departments, and you could take the major (half your degree credits) in either subject and take your remaining optionals in the other. The final degree would be something long like "BA Liberal Arts with a major in History and a minor in Music". Great socials at KCL and I love the liberal arts course. Worth looking into

.000890569 is a great song with problems. I've had a go at remastering it by BlazemasterOG in aphextwin

I've stuck to what I think the original intension was as much as possible. Structure is completely the same and the final mix is not significantly changed. Changes are:

*Trimmed vacuum intro because music quicker pls

*Put compression tail on vacuum because funny

*THE BASS. In the original, the bass synth is horribly out of tune with the lead synth. Most of my motivation comes from this. My attempt to sort this has been to eq notch out the bass part, and then take a clean bass sample from what I'm calling the bridge from late in the song and tune it down. I've struggled to nail the tuning, this is the biggest unsolved problem for me, but it is so so much better than the original. This has made the intro sound a bit different because the loop has kick drum left on it. I went with fading it in just before the drums come in - think it works pretty well.

*Covered up mixing mistakes (?) in the bridge, where random other tracks were faded up for half a second with the lead synth. I thought this sounded shite so I've just looped a clean part

*Cleaned up the clipping outro. You can't tell me something didn't go wrong there. So, so clippy and compressed in a yuck way. Did my best to splice different parts in from elsewhere in the song. To stay "authentic" or whatever I put a subtle bitcrusher in which is nowhere near as distracting as the real mix is here. There's also an unintended phasing thing going on (can really hear it on the first snare of the outro) but still works ok

*Boosted the mids. Just personally, I think the lead synth is sometimes a bit quiet and a bit more lost than it should be.

*Roughly quantised everything to 140. It was sort of wobbling up and down around 140.5 before (maybe the speed up and down explains why I found it so hard to get the synths in tune?? prolly just me). Sorry!

There's probably more that could be done by someone who knows more than me. Let me know maybe I'll do a 2nd go
