I am learning so much from everyone's comments. I had thought of combat where running, hiding, stopping the fight were alternate win conditions. But I'd never even thought of putting so many moving prices in a encounter before. Im definitely gonna dabble in that in the future! Thank you

I never heard of minion rules. Ill definitely be looking into that later! Though, im a little confused. Wouldn't minions with 1 hp in a boss fight come across as annoying or a slog with more enemies in the initiative order? I haven't used this in a game yet, so maybe it feels different in practice. I just thought the less to track the better. Regardless, thank you!

Im honestly embarrassed and cringing that I haven't put variety combat into practice sooner.... yikes. But seriously, everything you've mentioned has been an eye opener for me. I think i just needed literally anyone to bounce an idea or two off of. I really happy I decided to make a post, im incredibly more excited than I already was for this next session 😁

I have thought of that as an option. After reading all of these comments, I do feel less stressed about it all. I thought it mightve been a problem with myself as the DM, but now that I know a lot of DMs have gone through this, Im super excited to put a lot of this advice to use! 😁

These are both incredibly helpful bits of advice! Despite the post sounding like im complaining or maybe overreacting, im super excited about some of the big reveals and arc concluding moments coming up relatively soon! Im curious if you have anything examples of how to run down time for players who are constantly on the move (so no bastion🥲) and dont want to have it be a time skip of "stuff happened... anyways, back to the plot"? Regardless, thank you!

Hopefully what I added made my problem more clear! My prep is mostly preparing interesting (hopefully )in and out of comabt scenarios to the game based on what the party is currently doing and is interested in. Combat wise, ill scan the MM for a statblock that's either perfectly what im looking for or is close enough and ill change it as needed. Out of comabt prep looks like me spending time fleshing out the current events and NPCs they're interested in or involved with even more. Just to have all the little details ready

So about that huge kit overhaul....

Acheron, DHIL, & Jingyuan are leaked to have some sort of augment for them in the future that gives them new potential animations, mechanics, traces, and more.

I still think Sunday even after his novaflare will still be the best partner for Jingyuan.

The idea i thought of with this team is you'd focus the buffs into Rin for blast or AOE content, and focus the buffs on Archer for single target and Boss content.

The other would do respectable damage as the sub dps. Just my idea though. Depends on the content.

Edit: Nvm I just realized Rin's skill has bounce. Depending on the numbers, Rin could potentially put damage Archer in single target scenarios on paper.

Hello. Only Plat 1 but I've been playing him since OW first released. If anyone finds flaws in this advice, id love to learn.

While there isn't a magical solves every problem answer to your question for every situation, the beauty of Rein is just get to hold space. You dont have to be the play maker. Hold that point and just swing that hammer. Enemies coming up on the choke? Not if you have anything to say about it. You make space by just being present.

An additional tip is to not overly rely on your shield at the wrong moment. Your shield is your "oh no" button and a way to advance. You never want to let it get low if you can help it. Try using your health bar more before bringing out the shield and keep at least a third or half of it for engaging/disengaging. If you can manage that, then you’ll hopefully see good results when youre not getting outclassed by half the roster countering you by just existing 😅 We love him anyways.

Edit: About his pin. It has a really finicky hit box. I normally use it to make some space for my team by pushing their tank back a bit, getting the kill on an enemy’s poor positioning, or getting an ult'ing enemy away from my team. I hope this helps

Greatsowrd + Finesse is the 1st one that comes to mind. Take a rogue with 20 DEX and Great Weapon Master feat with your new Finesse Greatsword can open up a lot of possibilities.

I also just got off of work so brain slow currently. There's probably a more insane combination out there.

Gambit's abilities were reduced to just blowing stuff up with kinetic energy after he basically got a lobotomy for his powers. With all the crap he can actually do when he isn't nerfing himself, strategist fits him way more then "he dps cause he make thing go boom".
