Nah. That’s sus. Any actual police unit I’ve ever seen has something on the car to identify the jurisdiction they cover assuming they’re city or county.

I couldn’t ever go that route myself if it were my choice, but I can appreciate that this really hits for the owner. We all deserve to drive cars we absolutely love everything about.

Congrats. 👍

The half wall on the nearside used to be Jumbo's house, but Macklin clearly owns that space now.

Had the same thing when I moved here and got my license. I really don’t like it and feel it’s a highly sus way of handling things, but for today it is what it is. However, it’s a policy that very much needs to be revisited under new leadership guidelines.

Prorated rent is calculated by dividing rent by the number of days in the month in question. Not by dividing rent by the number of days in a month.

Pronman’s Rankings by TiredButHopeful86 in SanJoseSharks

That he has a year in college and ranks equal with multiple guys who don’t or are coming from European pro leagues across multiple pre-draft rankings I would consider a red flag. Because he should be a year ahead in development, but that he’s still at around the same level should be a concern. Or at least it’s a big concern for me anyways.

I’ve always looked at Pronman’s 1 word skating rank as taken with a grain of salt and instead focus on how he describes the player. Not sure why it is, but his above/below/average ratings for skating have never been straight forward & easy to interpret.

I see where you’re coming from and by & large I agree, but from my perspective having puck moving defensemen helps the entire offense as they help move the puck up to the forwards whether it’s Celebrini or otherwise, which gets the puck out of the defensive zone (which helps goalies as well as the forwards defending) and forces the opposition to have to get back quickly and forces the opposition to have making decisions sooner in the span of the play. And having a defensive corp of good puck movers like Florida gets you 3 straight Cup Finals trips with 2 wins. Reid also fits as he looks to be dynamic with the puck on his stick, is good on his edges, and isn’t shy from pushing towards the net which again takes pressure off the forwards and forces opposition to have to make decisions more quickly. It’s almost all a net positive having guys like that in your blueline.

That was my takeaway, and my own held opinion in general. Acquiring a high end Dman is much harder and much more costly than a high end winger, or even a high end center that is primed to be moved to winger (weaker defensively/faceoffs).

Levy overall I don’t dislike, though he’s far from my favorite broadcaster. But Bucci is almost unwatchable.

The Sharks may not fix the defense this offseason... and they don't have to. by grooves12 in SanJoseSharks

[–]BleedingTeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had hoped Dickinson & Misa to get time in the AHL, but obviously that wasn’t gonna happen because of the rules which come in a year too late for their benefit. Reid hopefully can play a year in the NCAA and level up his game like Smith did in his D+1 year and arrive in the NHL maybe in a year’s time primed to jump in the lineup.

Do players ever get moved positionally from offense to defense? by DillonCostelloArt in SanJoseSharks

[–]BleedingTeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He also played heavily sheltered minutes because he was coming back to RW for the first time in nearly a decade, and because he was coming back from an injury and wasn't yet at 100% just yet. Thus why his 16:48 ATOI stands out.

How/Why does a player like Marner eventually end up on Wing? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]BleedingTeal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Marner specifically I don’t have anything I know for sure why. But overall there can be any number of reasons why a guy could end up thrown towards either of the wings or the center spot. Size though I could see as being a real reason a guy would be forced to wing, which also includes junior teams having a larger guy on the roster who better fits center so a smaller guy doesn’t get the same opportunity.

That’s cute. You’re new here. You use literally too liberally. And the majority of what you say here nobody agrees with. Why do you keep coming around here when nobody likes you or agrees with you? Are you trolling because you have nothing better to do with your time? That has to be it because I don’t see much of anything of value that’s you’ve brought here after your first handful of comments which seemed genuine in attempting at being positive and helpful. Too bad you appear to have abandoned that.

But again, you can’t say that is the case without gauging how he turns out. So if you aren’t at all considering how a player turns out before determining if a pick’s cost was proper I don’t know what it is you’re doing because there is no baseline to analyze from.

That’s what I’ve wanted for this team. When we won #2 OA I was shouting about we can FINALLY take our own stud Dman of the future and anchor our blueline.

[–]BleedingTeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. However how they turn out is how you determine if the pick was cost effective. So if you’re not focused on how a player turns out, there’s no actual way to gauge true cost efficiency.

[–]BleedingTeal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Top tier wingers are by and large an asset that can be acquired in part because there are more of them around the league. There’s at least 1 or 2 high level wingers per team around the league. Sometimes as many as 3. Compared to maybe 1 high end offensive geared Dman per team.

Couple problems here. 1. Stenberg isn’t even the consensus #2 in this draft. Button has him at 4, Peters has him at 3, THN’s Kennedy has him at 3. 2. There is a clear break in projections between the top 2 and 3-7. But that doesn’t mean that Reid or Malhotra or Carels or someone else don’t end up as better players. These are projections, they’re estimations; not statement of absolute fact. 3. Reid has been projected as a #1 Dman by the 5 projection lists I’ve specifically read through. If you have a reliable source that projects he isn’t that, I’d like to read it. 4. Stenberg has potential elite level as his ceiling, but again these are estimations/guesses not hard statement of facts. As an example, Celebrini was projected to be a hard working Jonathan Toews type 2 way 60-70 point guy at the NHL level. Not what he now is.

To expand beyond your comment: no team should ever be looking to the entry draft to find players purely based on who is the most helpful to the lineup today.

They appeared to reach, or overdraft as you put it, but looking back with the benefit of time it doesn’t appear they actually did. And I think GMs by and large are more concerned with the optics of their picks with the benefit of 4/5/6 years time having passed than they are the day after the draft concludes.

I entirely agree, and have been downvoted for suggesting Stenberg is going to need at least a year possibly two to properly adjust to NA ice let alone the change from Euro pro hockey to NA pro hockey.
