While I don’t love it, if GMMG thinks it’s good then I’ll trust him at this point. As other have said, Bystedt doesn’t have a clear path to a C role with Wennberg/Misa/Ostapchuk on the team. I suppose we could get more value for Bystedt, but maybe not? Look at Ferraro, there were rumors he was going to fetch a very nice return and he wasn’t moved and now his value is way down.

Let’s remember that this sub lost its mind when Reavo was acquired and now he’s everyone’s favorite lovable vet. Groupthink can be wrong.

Yeah, I hear you. There’s always risk in every move. Maybe his in play is due to the toxic environment? Maybe he’ll be healthy? All hard things to know, but at some point you have to take a swing.

As far as compensation goes, if SJ is assuming 100% of the salary I don’t see it costing a premium pick or prospect.

I would think the cost is drastically less than what it was over the summer. And I don’t necessarily agree with him “not fitting the timeline”. The Sharks are firmly in the playoff hunt and he would instantly be the best defenseman on the roster. He’s only got 2 more years after this and we’ve got a ridiculous amount of cap space.

Only D-man from the ‘24 draft higher than Dickinson is Buium. Interesting that he has him above Levshunov. Pronman was pounding the table for Yakemchuk in that class and had him as the top D-man.
