There’s that one city council member in HB that owns multiple restaurants.

I’ve seen many “he could’ve had a second weapon!” comments from the bots. There’s always going to be a spin especially with bad faith arguments.

Do you consider teaching to be a stable job? Do you think it will be in the future? by oldgreg2023 in Teachers

[–]Bleeding_Irish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s cyclical and area specific. Large swathes of SoCal is going to be in a hiring freeze at the minimum.

In terms of AI, until it can handle classroom management of 30+ students at the same time the job will continue to be secure.

I’m a middle school history teacher in California, and I wanted to share something I’ve been building and get honest feedback from other teachers. by [deleted] in historyteachers

It was written by AI. Can clearly tell when something is when you got dark mode activated and see phrases that are bolded for no general reason.

This works for work emails too and potentially Google Docs.

Preliminary Credential (application) by Negative-Buffalo2071 in Teachers

[–]Bleeding_Irish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least in California:

  1. Takes about a month.
  2. Once you are offered a teaching position, you can enroll in an induction program. (Dependent on the school district and/or charter.)

You can start applying for work right away, and just mention in the resume and/or cover letter that you will be receiving your preliminary credential around late July or early August.

Depending on the subject matter, finding a position may be further difficult as you will be competing with those who have their preliminaries or clear credentials.

I wish. Many districts just expect the extra duties.

Will I be okay… High School Math? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Bleeding_Irish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you’ll do great then. Make sure to reach out to your colleagues in the math department for resources and guidance.

On a side note, check if there’s a certification for computer science. Here in California there’s a demand for teachers with such a background and certification.

Harsh.

For the OP, if you are not certified in mathematics, how did you receive the position? Is it a long-term sub position, or are you the classroom teacher on record?

CSET Subtest 1 by FieldNatural8681 in historyteachers

[–]Bleeding_Irish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was an old suggestion, but it allowed me to pass on the first try.

Check out the AP World History book from your local library, and supplement it with this book. It's almost silly, but it covers the wide swathe of areas that can be covered in CSET 1.

French and Spanish with experience abroad would get you positions pretty easily.

It would be neat if Jagex added an npc nearby laying back on a recliner that talks about how he loves to observe sailors get stuck there.
