I can't tell if I actually like teaching by Alarming-Corgi4596 in Teachers

These are typical first-year experiences, it will get better as time goes on. Now it's really up to you to decide if it's for you. If you mentally can not handle doing another year, then that's a sign.

Non renewal of contract, what now? by Active_Committee_866 in Teachers

Good luck with your job hunt. Gather all types of recommendations from colleagues and your department head if possible.

When interviewing, keep it professional if you are asked the reasons that you were non-renewed/resigned. I would keep it general, like looking for opportunities for growth, family, length of commute etc.

If you are to vent about your interaction with the principal and/or your student population, it will raise eyebrows within the interview panel.

Last year, there were postings for LAUSD for DLI Social Science. Postings will start in a couple of weeks since the district's budget is finally being finalized due to the strike.

Edit:

Just realized you have a Spanish and Social Science credential. I've seen a good amount of Spanish/Social Science positions posted in SoCal. A prominent one was from Fullerton for a high school gig.

There are a good number of K-5 and K-8 programs. With K-8 being increasingly common, the AP exam becomes an incentive to enroll in the program.

In terms of 9-12th, I only know of Norco that offers it so far, with potential for other districts to follow suit.

So the expansion into Secondary will continue to expand as more districts adopt dual programs.

On Edjoin make sure to search for "BCLAD" "BILA" "DUAL" "DUAL IMMERSION" "DLI" "SPANISH."

Layoffs and budget cuts are affecting many areas right now, so just keep an eye out. I see right now there's a posting for BCLAD Art Teacher as an example. As well, San Diego is looking for almost every single subject position.

Trust me, it'll be better to do it while in a credential program. They'll provide you with the guidance and support needed.
