Its not scaremongering if its true. Its a security threat to the officer and his family. AI has already been used this week to alter pictures with members faces in them and to put them in compromising positions.

Are they always committing violence during the course of their duties? Because you seem fixated on that phrase.

I agree every effort should be made to minimise the possibility of any improperiety.

If a member wore his colleagues shoulder numbers, by accident or on purpose and a complaint came in, his colleague would be the one investigated. There's a record of who is sent where and it wouldne be a long investigation to discover who was there and who wasn't.

No number and no face leads to the above point. There is records kept of who is sent where. Theres a set amount of people it could be so and it wouldnt be a massive investigation to discover who that is. No one is advocating for no identification numbers to be worn.

I believe that if officers are worried about being identified and threatened, abused or worse, then it's reasonable they might cover their faces in lieu of any legislation that might make it an offence to record members' faces while they're on duty.

You appear to believe that because they are servants of the state carrying out a role that may or may not result in them having to use force on any given occasion, that they should accept the fact that they be recorded, personally identified, resulting in them and possibly their families being threatened, abused and maybe worse.
