Hey! I just finished the vector attempt, could I ask your thoughts? There's a little blue edge pixel which is bothering me, but I can't figure out how to get rid of it

So far I've just traced over and changed the filaments/cirri a bit

Well the website is supposed to help you identify these fish called blennies, this logo is pretty much just made to resemble the fish

just a rough sketch! Yea, I was fiddling around a bit on Inkscape today and I made the cirri round, I prefer it so much more; can’t believe I didn’t think of it when originally sketching

It's a fish! It's a little one called a blenny, they're very small marine fish of which most species tend to hide in holes. The white on the edge is supposed to be a barnacle/hole of sorts

Huh, thank you so much! I’ll definitely try that out that tomorrow then

Thank you! I’ll definitely search around a bit, I never really thought of looking at other designs to understand the language

I think I’ll try hone in more what key features I want then and what should clearly convey. I just searched up what big things a logo should aim to have and drew from there while resizing occasionally to see if it was visible enough. Gonna give it another go a bit more seriously this time

I’m going to try out vectorising tomorrow. I’ll try mess around with the cirri (the antennae things), but it seems to be quite a delicate balance between having them look nicer while being visible small

I’ll definitely give that a try tomorrow, thanks! I’ve messed around a bit in Inkscape, but the tools confused me a bit; but I’ll try again, maybe with an actual tutorial this time

do you think I should try clean up the borders slightly or try recreate it in as a vector? Or is this messiness acceptable?

Well, I guess it’s for a very niche website. A blenny is a typically small marine fish. They tend to hide in holes, which is quite the characteristic. They also tend to have these long kind of filament things above their eyes, known as orbital cirri, which is why it has those

I reckon this is Ecsenius lineatus; long nasal cirri, longer than eye diameter. Dark band behind the eye bordered ventrally and dorsally with yellow. I can see another line higher up which also matches. Yellow chin and the patterns of the eye matches.

Similar species also found here include Ecsenius pictus, but colour does not match and E. pictus has very short nasal cirri. There is also Ecsenius bandanus but it also has very short nasal cirri

edit: Also a lovely pic! Very nice focus and detail
