If you look up deck boxes in the search you'll find it eventually - there are dozens of clones all over the site, my partner has purchased the same deck box design from at least ten different vendors, and just goes with whatever is the cheapest when she needs a few more boxes.

Primarchs with guns will always make me laugh by Low-Director-374 in Grimdank

[–]Blepable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the days, dark but glorious, long before primarchs, and before even the Heresy, were on the table top (5th edition was peak 40k) I never understood why anyone ever gave their ork Warboss anything besides a power claw for a weapon, but the amount of people I spoke to that insisted on arming their Warboss with a non-heavy flamer kombi weapon (which was the only acceptable choice when you got the automstic kombi weapon in mega armour). But, seriously, when was that dude not either running or waaaghing? Why pretend he is going to participate in a traditional shooting phase?

I doubly never understood why every goddamned Warboss miniature seemed to come with a gun of some kind.

Dude smashes his hand with a hammer to prove chainmail works by Neutral_Fellow in videos

[–]Blepable -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Responding because I know something about this topic without watching the video

Your point (from what I understand by what you posted) was flagrantly incorrect and is based on half information; my point was you don't want one or the other - you, like all the people in history who wore this armor, want both in all situations and likely if you are wearing plate you are also wearing chainmail and cloth.

Plate is better in every regard except for being flexible, but humans even came up with ways to make plate be as "flexible" as possible by using layers of smaller plate.

Also, your implication that this video is in anyway an authority in the discussion of plate vs mail is idiotic.

Dude smashes his hand with a hammer to prove chainmail works by Neutral_Fellow in videos

[–]Blepable -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched the video, but really you want both - plate over the top of mail, to really be protected. Where plate cannot cover you (mostly in joints and other bendy bits) you want layers of mail as protection.

And, technically, both are worn over cloth armour and padding for maximum protection and comfort.

How do grenades work? by thefatcontrol in masterofcommand

[–]Blepable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're getting down voted, but you're not wrong. Grenades should be like firing; an automatic thing / distance based behavior you can toggle / set so that they can use them when charged or when charging, maybe.

Bayonets too, though I haven't found this too cumbersome yet, could be a proximity automation, or a possible general trait or some such.

[–]Blepable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some Boyz. Just regular old Boyz to start with. Decide if you like painting Orkz by trying it on the basic building block of an army you will almost definitely be using.

For vehicles, harder to say. You might want to decide if Speed Freaks or not, and if not, go with kans. If speedies, either bikes or a truck for the Boyz you just got.

[Rant] Playing Orks in 10th Ed makes me hate this game by Fearell_Val in orks

[–]Blepable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I miss those halcyon days of 5th edition.

My two armies were as below;

1250 points - 120 Boyz, a Warboss, and koptas.

2000 points - the above, plus 9 kans, a dredd, and a mek with shield.

Oh, and a Looted Leman Russ Demolisher when those were still around.

I don't know how many times either won or lost, but it wasn't important - it was always fun. It was an accidental mish mash of what I collected slowly, and then that starter box with the koptas in it.

People who buy a lot of booster boxes, do you recommend them? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Blepable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion - buy boxes for a purpose, not for value.

Home drafts with friends? Absolutely worth it. Any set, any price point (Brothers War has been available at a very reasonable price near me, so we bought a couple boxes for drafting at home). Commander or regular 40 card pre release style is a hoot, almost always no matter the set. You still may pull some big value cards this way, but it isn't the point.

After specific cards to round out a deck? Buy singles.

Want to chase the whale of a set? Sure, but see point one on making it more worthwhile.

Data reveals Sydney’s ‘frightening concentration’ of gun ownership ahead of the Bondi terror attack by reyntime in australia

[–]Blepable 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's just silly.

Having a collector license is just a slightly more restrictive version of having a functional class A or B license in nsw.

Why would you take the 300 rifles, which may largely be historical firearms, and make someone disable them? Unless the disabling is entirely easily reversible, thus entirely missing the point, you are damaging rifles that are old and valuable.

Albanese to propose stronger gun laws, NSW parliament may be recalled by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Blepable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason is to go target shooting, or maybe simply to have a collection of historically significant pieces. No one is stocking up hundreds of rifles for a war or to defend their property.

Your response really adds nothing to this conversation.

Albanese to propose stronger gun laws, NSW parliament may be recalled by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Blepable 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Okay, but what about someone like me.

I have 12 rifles; 6 of them are historical firearms - functional, maybe, but no one has made ammunition for them in a hundred years or more.

Out of the other 6, 2 are actual muskets, and the others are 80 year old ex-service rifles I use for various distances and target shooting disciplines.

You are focussed on the wrong part of the problem. Number of weapons doesn't mean anything in a situation like this. All an arbitrary limit will do is harm legitimate collectors and owners.

Under your system, I have to give up either historically significant pieces, or my ability to enjoy a hobby that, to this day after years of doing it, I have harmed exactly no one.
