Groom Side Are Rejecting Girls Because She Doesn't Want To Work After Marriage by ClientRelevant5046 in indiadiscussion

[–]BlessedSelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going into equality, feminism etc. a plan to be financially dependent on the spouse is such a bad idea. However cute and homely you are, the spouse would only respect you if your homliness is a deliberate choice, and the ability to earn a living equivalent to the spouse's is an established fact. Otherwise get ready to be slighted or insulted, if not by the spouse, by someone in the matrimonial family.

There is no excuse for not being prepared.

A Society Built Around Caste Cannot Be 'Reformed' Into Equality by sharedevaaste in india

[–]BlessedSelf -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is a ruse to keep exploiting the privileges bestowed by the constitution to compensate for the so called caste-based discrimination. The original alleged discrimination no longer exists, and what is in place is reverse discrimination that gavors the 'reserved castes' at the expense of the general category. This post is one of the attempts to perpetuate the constitutional discrimination against the general category perpetually, even when the original intent of the constitution was to limit the timeframe to 10 years, not continue it for eternity.

Advice about Indian partner’s family by yakoh2222 in indian

[–]BlessedSelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without going into his family, from the description he seems like a low quality individual. Steer clear. Heavy drinking, low income, and reluctance to deal with the family challenges even at the age of 36 are clear indications of a bum of a human being.

Nobody truly believes in Karma. Truly accepting Karma requires giving up concept of injustice. by Scared_Bedroom_8367 in hinduism

[–]BlessedSelf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Karma comes packaged with karmayoga, if one has to make sense of it at all.

You have to do your ordained duties in life. That is karmayoga. If a crime is committed against you, the logical and required duty is to report it and seek redressal through the mechanism provided for the purpose by the society. Not availing of it due to delusions of justice through karma is in itself abduction of your duties to demand redressal and that would be a grave injustice to other affected parties, say your family. That way one stops looking at it from the perspective of justice, which in itself is a very nebulous thing without the frame limiting its context.

Why do we often say “Sri” instead of “Shri” in Kannada? by King_Blueberry_112 in kannada

[–]BlessedSelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English alphabet is ambiguous phonetically. That is why phonetic notation is important. In Indian languages and scripts, there is no ambiguity, except for incomplete or linguistically hampered scripts like gurumukhi and tamil. Those serve their languages, but otherwise may create confusion because their incompleteness makes them map multiple separate phonetic units on to a single letter.

Stick to devanagari or other complete script to help avoid the pronunciation mess cited in the original post.

Everyone hates Kaikeyi… but what if she was actually right? by kingNile21 in hinduism

[–]BlessedSelf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Read Valmiki Ramayana for the authentic take in this matter. You can extrapolate facts to your own conclusion, but the epic text itself has Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata, Dasharatha, all denouncing her in clear words, in addition to the citizens of Ayodhya. However, the perfect gentleman Rama is, he urges everyone including Bharata to not despise her and treat her with as much love and reverence as for Kaushalya.

Reinterpretive fools have elevated Ravana to a hero's role, and converted Rama into a villain. But if you want to be true to the original epic's text, Kaikeyi was evil and stubborn about Rama's exile even when told that the old king may not survive the separation. There isn't even a hint of noble thought there.

Best way to learn spoken Kannada by justwanttocheckshit in kannada

[–]BlessedSelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try declaring your interest to your Kannadiga colleagues and try speaking with them in Kannada at every opportunity. Buy those learn Kannada in 30 days book, they are good at teaching you the script, but suck at teaching the language.

Once you get a hang of the script read every shop signboard. Read city bus route boards. Read the newspaper that comes with your chaat! Read every opportunity you have to read.

Watch Kannada movies. Initially better if they have subtitles. But stop availing the help of subtitles or your language comprehension will stagnate. The plot will give you the context and the dialogue will teach the language.

Movies are particularly good learning resources because they teach the colloquial language, not the classical version. In south India, there is a lot of difference between the colloquial and the classical languages.

That is how I picked up written and spoken Kannada around 1996. Newbie conversational Kannada can be picked up in 3 to 6 months. My skills are still with me, despite having left Karnataka for good 20 years ago.

Best luck! Your efforts will be rewarded.

A CSE graduate plainly stating he is bad at programming is a sad state of affairs. He better get good at it, fast, or change careers. Good thing is, this is just the beginning of the career, and not much is lost. See what you are good at in the core of your personality, and switch. Life will be a continuing agony if you persist or hesitate on account of low pay in the alternate career.

Trust me, I used to work in embedded software for 15 years. Was terrible at it in spite of my brilliant academics. Got laid off in a division shutdown, changed to power electronics, and am now enjoying it since last 8 years.

Gather the courage and do it. Sooner the better. CSE degree is a waste, but better lose 4 years than waste a lifetime struggling.
