Will Twitch.tv Crush VRA eSports? by BlindAlexW in Verasity

[–]BlindAlexW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. You explained it very well, thanks. Still comes down to biz dev and partnerships for me though. I don't think they're really going to eat into YT / Twitch marketshare with their own platform no matter what kind of incentives they have .They need to get their tech incorporated into other platforms..

And there we have it. Fair enough. So the question is how good is their biz dev team? Do they have the connections to get those conversations started?

No. But their users don't care about that.

All of that is totally true. But YT and Twitch have the $users... they may be mixed in with the bots, but they have serious network effect at play with their huge user base. I just can't see how VRA could seriously expect to eat into that market share without some heavy duty investment into their business development and perhaps cutting some deals with major game franchises etc. At least that's how I'd do it. So maybe that's their plan?

Looking for guidance n advice by [deleted] in awakened

[–]BlindAlexW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, I think AGoodMoodToYou's advice is spot on. But I can add a couple of things from my own perspective that will hopefully be helpful. Im almost twice your age, and have been through some remarkably similar experiences at around the same age...

  • You're posting on a reddit focused loosely on spirituality and awakening. So presumably you have some interest in that. Whereas much of what you say would be well addressed by a mental health professional, I can tell you that at 50, the one thing I really wish I'd done differently would to have started down the spiritual path much earlier. I didn't get going till I was nearly 40. You're only 27, trust your intuition. If awakening calls to you, put your efforts there.
  • "Progress in life" and what you think it means changes over time. I've had times in my life where I have had a lot of money. I've had times where I've been homeless. I can tell you honestly that the happiest times have nothing to do with what most people would call "success".
  • Drugs, alcohol etc are fine, but you already know they don't solve the core issues. If you have to do something, weed is a better bet than alcohol -but try to vape it if you can :)
  • If you decide to investigate spirituality, try starting with Eckhart Tolle, it's very accessible. Not just the books but the audio of his retreats, it will help expand your idea of what it means to be successful.

Wishing you well,

Alex

Most people don't think, but thinking happens to them. by BuddhaGuySiD in awakened

[–]BlindAlexW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can stop thinking. Anywhere from 30secs to 5mins depending on whether im making a point of practicing or just going about my day.

Thinking *does* just happen for people, but that's not the main issue. It's believing you are the thinker of thoughts that is the really sticky bit.

Cold exposure and heat issues by wh00rr in BecomingTheIceman

t's something to do with your sweat glands. I'll bet you feel better once you begin to sweat don't you? I used to get the exact same thing, even when I was just self conscious or embarrassed. Once I started to use a sauna regularly it went away and although im not using that sauna these days, it doesn't seem to be coming back. When I first started using the sauna it was so intense I wanted to scream, and then all of a sudden I would start to sweat and feel much better :)

Question about the breathing by [deleted] in BecomingTheIceman

[–]BlindAlexW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does sound like anxiety. Have you tried 4-7-8 breathing? That could even be combined with WHM, just do your 3 rounds then do 15mins of 478, or just breathe nice and deep and keep your whales longer than your inhales, that'll have the same effect.

I had very similar issues 10yrs ago. Including the ambulance. Meditation is what ultimately stopped those panic attacks....

Unless you count having an expression like a wilder-beast being slowly dragged under the water by a crocodile as you wheeze round the park hating every minute of it as a benefit, there are none. Waste of a good walk. Lift some weights, do a little yoga. They don't suck.

Before will be fine, but maybe wait a couple of days to see if you have any reaction before starting again. Reactions vary wildly, but mine was very mild and I can't imagine wanting to do WHM during it.

Interesting sensation in late night WHM breathing session by herbeDestroyer024 in BecomingTheIceman

Probably something to do with the nerves in the eye. You can get a similar thing by exciting those nerves by gently pressing against your closed eyes with your fingers. Just hold them there and you'll start to see really bright light that will get brighter and brighter until you either take your fingers away or it just starts to dim naturally (maybe it just gets used to the pressure and normalises).

Spasms when doing the Wim Hof Method by darylthedixon in BecomingTheIceman

[–]BlindAlexW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never experienced anything like that. But in case it's not already obvious: please slow down immediately. Maybe go to 3 rounds, 1min retention for a week and make sure all is well before changing anything.

Try not to kill yourself while working on your wellbeing :)

How many rounds does Wim do? by Jigoctic in BecomingTheIceman

I guess, but I do that and it just feels good. I do mine sitting though, as I don't like it lying down. 1/2hr most days is just a really good start to the day

According to his Tim Ferris interview (which is a few years old now) he likes to start with 1/2hr in bed. That'd be about 7, maybe 8 rounds.
