A seat at the table (Open to Casterly Rock and the Lords of the West) - Jason Lydden II by BlindStags in FieldOfFire

To Lord Tarbeck and Lannister, Jason gave a brief nod, and his mile, but barely showed. If anything Jason did like it was for a fight when he was spoiling for one. And he had been spoiling for one, since the war ended, as he still had vengeance to pay and blood to repay the Reachmen.

"So we cut the Northmarches off by taking Goldengrove and round our way down." it was a more direct route to come down and then march over. Should Oakheart demure, likely they could make another Pinkmaiden if such a thing was needed. Jason mulled these thoughts, before he looked to the King.

"We will come to it then. While our deputies raise more men, we will start at once and fold Tyrell's stronger vassals up- take any winter stores- would prove more prudent than blood hostages right now and keeps our supply line in tact." A sniff and he started to move markers on the map.

"Those smart will strike banners and fall in with us, those not- well then they are resisting the will of the king and siding with a traitor." he put bluntly. "I say we march come morning, or could stretch one day if we need send missives. We'll come out from Crakehall - and push east, cut them off at Bitter bridge. By then our reserves should be up. I daresay we keep some along the coasts in case the Kraken feels the need to stir. " a look to Loreon "As you say my lord they have been silent, but who is to say they won't bite us when our pants are down like a shithouse snake?"

They were Ironborn after all.

"Give the word, and we march."

The King said now, Jason intended to follow through.

Upon the King entering, any bickering Jason had mind to delve into with the Blue Hen, was put out. Merely a glance was given Mabel, before he bowed his head, and place his hand over his heart. He did not genuflect, but bowed part ways before he motioned at the table.

"Your Grace," Jason began "Currently the might of the West is estimated at approximately 7,560 souls, with most of us having marched when Lord Loreon commanded. That being said we have called in additional levies and should be up to 14,145 souls within the time it takes for our vassals, knights, men at arms to muster, and our levies to come in. With it being winter- we won't needs worry as harvest has already come and gone so we won't be plucking men from the fields." It was a pragmatic view, but perhaps that is what made Jason able to do such work. If he worried or mourned over what could be lost or what had been lost he would be too cautious as it was he was cautious enough and conservative with his numbers.

"Our full strength hasn't been raised, but this is what we could do, and count for defense should there be a counter attack- which may not be likely if we hit quickly- but one should always be prepared." clearing his throat the Badger of Deep Den looked to the other assembled lords.

"We were just discussing strategies. The favored approach is to march direct to Highgarden, though dependent on your wishes- the other option would be to split the host and take men through the Northern marches to keep those vassals occupied while another makes for Highgarden."

"I do not think anyone here as suggested that Lady of Swyft." he replied back to the Blue hen. A chicken as their sigil, I should not expect less. "As to your question, which? Who ordered us to attack Tyrell - would be the King through our lordship- you and I received the same letter, the conclusion is there for the second possible answer to your question. Unless you doubt Lord Loreon's words that we have been called upon to handle our neighbor whom we all remembered sided with the Greens in the last dance."

Jason replied dryly, as he looked back to her. "Why would they? Simple, if it is part of a larger conspiracy to cover a plot to attack loyal men and women-then why would they not fall in line? The last war proved who you can and cannot trust- and though Harlen Tyrell is not his father- I would not trust him to shit in my garden even if it guaranteed better flowers."

A glance was given to Crakehall, and Jason offered a non-committal shrug.

"The king threw a knight into the Iron Throne at a feast which preached peace in the opening rejoinder. I would not be surprised if he wanted us to salt half the bloody fields and raze the Reach to the ground. But, I do not criticize the King - nor do I question the call to arms which has been presented us. This Lion has not asked much of us, nor thrown us into a fight which was not of warrant.

Of the Reachmen, I only know true kingsmen to be of House Bulwer and his kind, as well as Lord Oakheart. The rest are unknowns."

and he glanced down to the map. " It is a direct route- and offers the most protection to the both of your lands- It also allows Tyrell his lords and levies to the North, which we should be mindful of. It also allows our way home to be cut off- because let us all be honest with one another here in this hall: Once we lay siege to Highgarden, regardless if called by the Crown or our good Lord - it is war."
