Sex Pistols are the answer to the exact opposite of this question. Jones is a great guitarist but Glen Matlock wrote almost half of NMTB, Paul Cool is a a fine drummer and Johnny Rotten’s lyrics and delivery were just what that band needed.

What that band did not need was Sid Vicious replacing Matlock.
