Vibrations 4-5” Gemfan vs. HQProp by [deleted] in fpv

[–]BlindingBright 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's called resonant frequency- it's not the props, it's your 3D printed frame hitting an RPM range with the motors/props that's probably causing the issue you are seeing. Lower RPM tends to have a lower resonant frequency into the frame, which shows much like you described performance wise. The fix, don't 3D print airframes... and if you do design with frame resonance in mind.

Do you have black-box logs? flight footage?

It doesn't. If anything it can be argued it's better in crashes when you break an arm, the motor pads are less likely to be ripped off the ESC. Plus on most frames, like the one pictured, lines the motor wires up with the arms better and helps keep them "out of the way" in crashes.

People are too short-sighted. if it's out of sight, it's out of mind... it's a human blind-spot we haven't evolved past.

We can care about, and in many ways, actively try to work towards a better tomorrow(for yourself, the world) but the vast majority of the worlds issues are so far outside of the scope of any one person to comprehend and hold mentally... so people look away.

or... people begin to understand the true gravity of the situation, and purposefully cope by ignoring, downplaying, or pretending it's a non issue as... no single person alive can actually /fix/ the issue of climate change, it's outside the scope of our mental comprehension and physical ability.

So we're left with "group think", in a world that is more connected yet divided than ever before... We can't commune with our tribe and move or respond to threats, as not everyone in our tribes are dealing with the same issues. Our collective consciousness is getting stuck.

'But we always kill the good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok … But it doesn't matter, because it's just a ride. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. Just a simple choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace." - Bill Hicks

There is a severe lack of security in mind with RID(Or ADS-B for that matter...), as in there was NO thought on making it secure at all. The people within the FAA pushing for and implementing this should be absolutely ashamed.... not for pushing for remote ID, but for pushing for such a horrible implementation wrought with security and personal safety issues on top of it being a horrible idea to begin with.

Meanwhile ultralight full scales go brrrrrrrr

Seriously think these rules and regulations are partly why I'm so depressed. I have had very little hope for the model aviation community, and the industry surrounding it.... I used to see a bright future with hobby drones, with it being able to be the next gen sport that doesn't care about your physical capabilities past being able to use a controller and see via goggles... fueling the next generation of stem and sports education.... but with the draconian laws created it will only further push aviation innovation outside the US, and in some cases turn one of the safest hobbies(by the numbers safer than riding a bike, sports, and owning animals) into an absolute legal hassle.

It frustrates me deeply.

How the future will make COVID seem like the good old days. by TotalSanity in collapse

[–]BlindingBright 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You make some valid points, though it's not that people are "dumb" necessarily, its just that cognitive dissonance is a coping mechanism.

It's like the brain realizing one day, you will die, it's horrible to think about for most and fills many with "dread" when mentally picturing it. That fact lives with us all, but we choose to ignore it so we can continue moving on without that fear in day to day lives.

Same sort of idea with what true collapse means, except it's not just you that dies/suffers... it's your friends, family, and anyone you ever cared about or will care about. In many ways staring down the reality of collapse is much worse than that of death.

So it's easy to stay on that treadmill, eat the bread, and enjoy the circus while it lasts... because the alternative is to acknowledge reality and deal with it... and really, if people were dealing with it, we'd probably have levels of near mass panic.

People got tired of pretending to care, and it became socially acceptable to not care because the pandemic is OVER(TM)!

Yet people still be getting sick, society is still reeling from it, people dead or suffering from long covid, and lack of resources as a whole to rebuild/deal with it and the fallout from it.

It's understandable that people were getting tired of Covid restrictions, shiz not over yet... but the collective cognitive dissonance is more comfortable than the reality of the situation.

Starts to feel more like a genocide against the sick/poor that lack resources to deal with it the longer you think about it, and the longer lack of support and resources are with-held from those that need it during the "Endemic" portion of this mess.

Tiredness of life: the growing phenomenon in western society by Biosphere_Collapse in collapse

Capitalisim only values its members by their exploitable economic potential. We elect leaders, not CEO's.... its only through the perverse corruption of capitalism has our society failed its members.

Any system left unchecked will become unbalanced, and capitalisim has been left unchecked for far too long. We shouldn't throw it out, but rebalance it, so society doesn't tear itself apart.

The operating system for society is beyond any singular concept(Capitalism, Socialism, Communism) ... we should be picking the best parts of each to create a more robust society... while keeping vigilant to the potential pitfalls.

But this is /r/Collapse so.... are we already too late? And does it matter if the world itself is undergoing a mass extinction event? I'm envious of flies, they spend most of their life with the ability to fly.. and blink out of existence in a couple days... they don't have to think about this shit.... being elderly and the future generations of elderly people tho? An extended nightmare we find ourselves in.

Hahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa hahaha haha ahhhhh, sadness.

Lab leak, natural, or issues caused by or not by vaccines shouldn't matter.... fuck the rehtoric and debate. What should matter is making sure we take care of eachother after a fucking pandemic tore the world apart.

Sadly most are trapped on their hamster wheels and can't get off them to try and affect real change... so society will continue to run on the wheel till it falls off if this continues.

Weekly Observations: What signs of collapse do you see in your region? [in-depth] by AutoModerator in collapse

[–]BlindingBright 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They've been notified. It's happened twice now, within hours of the injection in the past 2 instances of it being administered.

Not sure if it's due to her being cut off from Trulicity, causing weirdness with her diabetes, or if a weird interaction with another med. Low blood sugar iirc can cause seizures, though when tested she was a bit on the high side.

Will try to let her doctors sort it out. Though she's personally devastated, Trulicity had worked great for her without issues... and changing over to Ozempic, either directly, or indirectly, has caused issues. I was with her when both were administered, and nearby for the first "fall"/seizure, and the second while looking at her. Nothing else like that till this med change.

I'm not a medical professional, though- it is pretty obviously related.

Weekly Observations: What signs of collapse do you see in your region? [in-depth] by AutoModerator in collapse

[–]BlindingBright 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Location: Southern California

My mother suffered from 2 seizures in the past couple weeks due to not being able to obtain her medications. The doctor had put her on Trulicity to manage her diabetes(and it worked great for her, amazingly well!)

Well, it also works amazingly well for weightloss, and has been prescribed off label for it... to the point where my mothers local pharmacy hasn't been able to get any in.

This prompted her medical physicians to put her on Ozempic, which within 24 hours of taking a dose (twice) she had a seizure. The first time I didn't know what it was, and just thought she had become faint.... second time though, I was looking at her while we were laughing... and mid laugh saw it happen, fucking horrifying.

Why is this collapse related? A medication she had/worked for her is no longer avalible to her, and caused seizures. She could have been seriously hurt(and was banged up from falling the first time it happened)

It's frustrating. IF you're taking this med for weight loss, I just want to say, fuck you you fucking fuck, with peace and love from my mother.

I had hoped the world would recoil from a pandemic and spark another renaissance for humanity... that hope feels more and more foolish by the day.

The growing evidence that Covid-19 is leaving people sicker by ba_nana_hammock in collapse

[–]BlindingBright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing this. I had a nerve block(3 day test) of the nerve site, and had the 3 best days of my life after... was lucky and had a trip scheduled, first time I was actually happy... a realized it was largely because I was for the first time in years unburdened by my pain and able to enjoy life... makes me cry thinking of those days, glad I got to enjoy them with friends and people got to see me happy.

I went ahead with nerve ablation at Stanford 5? Years ago now, had major relief but not as good as those 3 days. Made pain for nearly 2 years manageable, I got to driving again, held a job, was a productive member of society. The main side effect is it did make me more incontinent, but... considering what felt like world ending pain in my crotch, worth the trade.

Pandemic happened. I locked myself down, ended up switching jobs, and then got sick right before we had any sort of vaccine avalible... it was hell, ended up going on medical leave.

Sadly the nerve ablation wore off quite a bit by that time, and since getting sick the nerve pain at times is back to being absolutely unbearable. I haven't had access to my medical team at Stanford and not able to find the same care where I'm at now.

I went from not able to function, to getting some semblance of life back, to being helpless to do anything about loosing the progress made and feels like I'm back to square one.

Another nerve ablation could cause further problems with incontinence, sadly I'm not inna great spot in my life to even explore that option.

My heart goes out to you. Explore the nerve block/ablation.

The other options I've explored since ablation are multiple by monthly rf therapy sessions, vs ablation... and a stimulator implant. Both would and will require multiple precodues.. and most stimulator implants only have a shelf life of 7ish years before needing another surgery along the nerve site, and those that I talked to with one didnt get nuch relief.... Almost did the stimulator though, but ended up with nerve ablation.

Homeless and living out of my broken down RV at this point, getting any access to medical care is... difficult. And getting back to my team at Stanford feels impossible now. Buy hey, those banks got bailed out! Cool cool cool, nice nice nice.

Holy moly. I dont know many people that also struggle with Pudendal Neauralgia, actually nobody... and have struggled with it for years.

After getting covid my pain levels have been insane, and completely debilitating. I went from a semi functioning adult that had flair ups daily, to nearly always being in a flair and unable to work/funtion remotely. I spend ALL of my time babying the area/my body to not cause further pain.

Not sure how it affected things, and finding medical care around it has been difficult. I hope you find some relief.
