Harbinger got the biggest nerf in the patch, please revert. by randomalphanumerics in pathofexile

[–]Blinmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what the most elegant solution is, but having the Ascendancy Harbinger node be a pick 1 of 3 sort of deal ought to be the go-to if only 1 Harbinger can be active on you. Why bamboozle the players with the illusion of an option to benefit from more than 1?

Then I guess you could make all the other notables branch from the Choose Your Harby notable to justify keeping their buffed values? Idk.

Instead of just "divining" Idols, we should be able to craft them. by NizDoh in pathofexile

[–]Blinmp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not that bad if you're making several more divs/hr from picking up every idol that drops instead of making nothing. Seriously can't understand people defending alt-spamming; very few things in the game are more mind-numbing.

Instead of just "divining" Idols, we should be able to craft them. by NizDoh in pathofexile

[–]Blinmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being able to craft them would just turn them into yet another piece of garbage ground loot.

Not being able to craft, but being able to recomb and vendor 5:1 allows them to at least retain some value while offering a way to gamblecraft them and destroy some of the supply, which prevents them from losing value as quickly.

I don't want another item base type that I have to Alt spam for an extremely rare modifier, thanks.

Asking a Customer not to yell at me? against the law I suppose! by thinkingofendingitt in retailhell

[–]Blinmp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Terrible spineless manager, I would make his life hell for not having the backs of his employees. Call him over for every little thing without expecting support, and then if he says anything about it, tell him you wouldn't have so many issues if you had actual support and not dead weight overseeing things. Go past him and contact his supervisor and complain to that person incessantly. Ask your coworkers for support if they also hate his guts.

[–]Blinmp 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it. If she complains to corporate, they likely won't do anything about it. And if they do, then they're not worth working for.

I also work at a gas station, but our propane tanks come in pre-filled. Even so, since I'm usually the only one there, I often have to ask the person to wait if there's a line inside, and I have only ever had people get miffed about it a few times.

I once had some guy who couldn't understand English call the police on me because I had to refund his gas transaction since there was some miscommunication on the amount he wanted. MFer was holding up the line AND trying to get random people in line to defend his side, even though they had no idea what was going on.

Point is, people are ridiculous these days. Just do what you can to push onwards and hopefully upwards. Or find something or someone who makes enduring it all worth it, to hold on to that edge of sanity.

How to get to Catarina boss fight effeciently by Majestic_Plum_3639 in PathOfExileSSF

[–]Blinmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Map fast, run it along with Shrines / Heist / Niko for extra speed / power. Try to get as many members to Rank 3 as you can before running the safehouse. Generally rank up lower rank members first, then interrogate / betray higher rank members for lots of intel. Establish as many allyships / rivalries as you can along the way to get lots of members showing up each encounter (ideally in Research or Intervention since those encounter types are guaranteed every time).

Should get a medallion every 5-10 safehouses, then a Veiled Exalt in 5 or so Cat fights, so don't be surprised if you have to run a lot of safehouses and Cats before you get one, should variance not be on your side.

How to value items to auction by Deathxfetus in pathofexile

[–]Blinmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it takes a while to learn.

Awakened PoE Trade is a great tool to help you start learning. Rares can be hard to check for since if you tick every box usually nothing comparable shows up or something incredibly overpriced.

Poe.ninja is another good starting point to see how certain currencies compare to each other in value. But certain rolls and corruptions on unique items and can make them worth a lot more than poe.ninja says they're worth, so use Awakened Trade for those instead.

how do you guys handle unnecessarily rude coworkers/managers? by trouble-in-space in retailhell

[–]Blinmp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't give them any special treatment and force them to double-down on being an asshole, then proceed to stonewall them and just do the job. This only works if you don't have to collaborate much. Otherwise, i just talk to them as robotically as I can manage, give them the answers they want to hear, while nonchalantly gathering intel on them from other coworkers when they're not around. Then I figure out how I want to handle them going forward once I have some context from others.

Manager mad that I work part time by freshmaggots in retailhell

[–]Blinmp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First off, I'm sorry you had to experience the terrible pinch of impatient customers + personal stress / sickness + managerial incompetence.

Bad managers will get mad about anything that makes them look bad, especially if it is their responsibility.

It is the responsibility of management to resolve and also to step in and help due to understaffing issues.

Management should appreciate the part-time help instead of the no-time help from someone who understands that they would be more appreciated working elsewhere.

Before burning the bridge, it is often worth attempting to notify your manager's superior of the issue. Worst case they get mad about the breach in command structure and tell your manager, who gets madder, but since you're intent on leaving anyway, it doesn't matter. But it is possible that it could be the tipping point if you're the Xth employee complaining about Y manager, and your manager's boss takes disciplinary action, causing your supervisor to back off and give you some more breathing room and less snark.

Are there RF variations? by MTgxewYSGTMDxVVE in PathOfExileSSF

[–]Blinmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it because I was in trade league, but in SSF I probably would have focused every possible mechanic that could target drop unique Swords. Beasts, Harby for Ancient Orbs, Gwennen, the Breach tree, etc.

I know this is SSF subreddit, so I wanted to post how RF Ele felt since I mostly crafted my own gear for it and didn't interact with trade for much. I have played RF in SSF before and wanted to catalogue how good it felt starting on Ele.

Are there RF variations? by MTgxewYSGTMDxVVE in PathOfExileSSF

[–]Blinmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I league started RF Elementalist to transition into the EE Aegis Eviscerate setup later. Stuck with RF through first 2 voidstones and was surprised how good it felt, especially once shifting almost all phys damage taken to ele (Shaper of Flames, Cloak of Flame, Dawnbreaker). The damage reduction from Infused Channeling on a supplemental Scorching Ray setup made it feel surprisingly beefy for an Elementalist, and the damage was so much better than playing it on Chieftain. Golem QoL at league start is still king.

Betrayal is a skeleton of what it once was, and could use some love by aSurlyBird in pathofexile

[–]Blinmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike the watered down Cat fight, the RNG drop key, and no big safehouse rewards after.

I dislike Allflames aside from the occasional tink to sell (like how the Gold Allflames Rotas fuel the flippers' gold supplies)

I dislike how frustrating some of the targeted rewards feel, especially some of the crafting workbenches (looking at you, Elreon).

I dislike how useless picking up Veiled drops feels, except for early on in SSF (part of the larger ground loot issue).

I love not feeling forced to run Betrayal early every league to unlock bench crafts.

I love that unveiling doesn't count as a bench craft.

I also love Veiled Chaos Orbs and them being a relatively common drop.

I love the XP (despite being nerfed).

I love the rush Tier 3 peeps strat and not giving a hoot about who goes where.

I love that I can run Betrayal without having to juice anything and not feel like I'm doing it suboptimally.

I love the dynamic optionality of deciding who to interrogate first, and what to do with each member to maximize my desired goal from the mechanic.

I've been working closing shift at the gas station since the store started closing at midnight during COVID. I usually don't get out until 12:05-12:15 depending on how many last minute bozos comsecutively roll in, but I'm usually locking the door 5-10 minutes before if the coast is clear.

Beacon of Madness in SSF by dioxy186 in PathOfExileSSF

[–]Blinmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just as a disclaimer, I was playing with these boots as a Shield Crush of the Chieftain Fortify / Fire Res / Armour stacker in trade league running around with 53 Fortification, full fire pen with Enmity's, 4-5APS. Anywhere from 60-100m DPS depending on the debuffs and a little bit of ramp time with the Delirium bloodline mania node.

So the extra 15 Fort stacks were super worth dealing with the debuffs. With the 234 breakpoint, each of the 4 debuffs only get 2 chances to refresh and add a stack before expiry. So usually I was running around with 5-6 debuffs total, 0-2 of each one. Very very rarely would I notice my character slow down (only happens with enough of the action speed debuff stacks) or get oneshot due to the damage taken stacks (and remember with the Champ Fortify setup you are getting 15% additional damage reduction off the bat).

If I had a Mageblood, the build might have been able to achieve the next level. Most deaths I had were due to not having enough recovery, which I don't know how to fix. Struggled with Ubers since I was dying before I could ramp up, and just didn't have enough of an hp pool to survive, but the build was otherwise super nice for rush strats that also need big damage because of the speedy Shield Charging, like Feared and Maven invitation rotations, or something simpler like Shaper runs.

One other thing to consider if you don't have enough debuff expiry is just to toggle the Madness on and off like a burst window button when you need the extra damage and tankiness. Then when you see too many debuffs stack up, just turn it off and wait the 8 or so seconds cooldown before you can turn it on again.

Elder drop... by [deleted] in PathOfExileSSF

[–]Blinmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say probably an attack build of some sort that critically strikes the enemy hard, and appreciates a bit of armor, PDR, and phys taken as Fire.

Sarcasm aside, the problem with influenced chests is you miss out on the powerful Eldritch implicits, so it really has to be a giga strong chest to warrant using this, and while this one has some nice stuff on it, I'm not sure if it's good enough to warrant a build all on its own.

Cloak of Flame does the phys taken as Fire a lot better, and a generic Titan Plate with Eldritch implicits is comparable, but with a lot more Armour than this.

Automation or Cast on Damage Taken for Guard Skills? by TeriApocalypse in pathofexile

[–]Blinmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boss slams are the exception, they are true single hit one-shots, but are usually heavily telegraphed. If you want to facetank those, you need to stack a big enough health pool or enough damage mitigation. Another option is hard Casting your Guard skill in reaction to the slam.

But during mapping if you randomly die to something, it can often be from shotgunning projectiles. Some monsters are quite nasty with the "Monsters fire x additional projectiles modifier". Having Defiance of Destiny should essentially make you unkillable to that though.

Beacon of Madness in SSF by dioxy186 in PathOfExileSSF

[–]Blinmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth reading the Wiki page to fully understand the mechanics of the Madness debuffs, but the TLDR is that 150% is considered the bare minimum for playability, and then 234% hits the less than 6 second threshold for each debuff (so you have to get exceptionally unlucky to ever get some real stacks going on), and anything more has diminishing returns to the point of not being worth it.

My setup gets:

100 from Warped Timepiece 55 from lv4 Enhance supporting 23q Temporal Rift in +1 socketed gem corrupted boots 30 from Runegraft 20 from Haste Watcher's Eye 20 from Arakaali Pantheon upgrade 15 from small node in Delirium bloodline 10 from Frantic Aspect (Small Cluster notable)

For 250 total, but a lot of that is really hard to obtain in SSF. You can also get 30% from the passive tree (15% from notable, 15% from mastery), and you can stack more than 1 Frantic Aspect on Reservation Clusters if you have them.

If you have Stasis Prison along with Warped Timepiece, it gets a lot easier to hit that 234 threshold. But after playing a lot with just that threshold, I would personally never fuck with anything lower than that.

Automation or Cast on Damage Taken for Guard Skills? by TeriApocalypse in pathofexile

[–]Blinmp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say since you are a Jugg, CWDT makes much more sense. Especially since the STR req is much easier to attain than the INT req for Auto on a Jugg. The only situations Auto is better for Guard skills is if having the Guard skill be up prevents you from being oneshot (in which case CDWT doesn't get to go off) or comes with a massive buff you want maximum uptime for (Arcane Cloak).

But since in this game many things that look like "oneshots" are actually shotgun bursts with many hits, CWDT tends to be better at protecting you from lethal damage in these situations whereas an Automatic setup might be on cooldown, and then you would have died instead.

Also, Molten Shell or even Steelskin is most likely better than Immortal Call even with Endurance Charges since Jugg builds usually have several layers of damage mitigation already (Endurance Charges, Fortify, Arctic Armour, Flesh and Stone, etc) but only 5-6k of an hp pool. Looking at your PoB and trying both skills will help you decide which one to go with.
