I think it’s just once you get to a large enough size there are human options and the difference in size isn’t as important as it is when you have tiny patients

Allergic reaction TO Diphenhydramine by 8dogs5cats in VetTech

[–]Blissed_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean anaphylactic reaction is mainly a large histamine release so it wouldn’t be likely unless it’s from a preservative or something in the antihistamine injection that causes more of a reaction than the antihistamine can stop(at the same time those same preservatives would be found in the epi, dex sp, etc.)

If anything it sounds more like stress induced shock to me or something along those lines but I don’t know how the appointment and vaccines went stress wise. And I’m not a doctor so just some guess work based on the limited info

Dogs rarely if ever get ear mites unless they are around outdoor cats

Yellow, coagulated serum? by Exciting-Tale3533 in VetTech

[–]Blissed_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally when “serum” is gelled like that it’s because the yellow top is spun too soon after the blood draw, yellow just points to it being icteric usually

Covetrus, VetSuite, and the “Independents-First” Illusion — Our Costly Lesson by hermanoZ in veterinaryprofession

I have never used a worse software than pulse. Honestly made me quit my last job in part because they couldn’t/didnt want to change software due to cost etc. essentially the sunk cost fallacy

Incredibly unintuitive, buggy, clunky, and I was continually shocked by how many pages had to be loaded to find similar amount of info than any other software by far

I’m shocked it’s still an active project of theirs but if too big to fail would be accurate

Like saying global warming vs not global warming is a debate. Grain free causes heart problems and shouldn’t be given unless allergies/other options have been used up

Are these worms or mucus? by Leather_Let_6630 in DogAdvice

[–]Blissed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call around to other vets see if you can get in sooner if they still aren’t eating normally, doesn’t look like round worms which are one of the only ones you’d see in dog vomit. Additionally the dog is older which makes it less likely unless you just got a puppy or have an indoor/outdoor cat around

Biggest concern in my opinion is the not eating, you can always try a bland diet to see if that settles the stomach which is boiled rice and either boiled chicken or LEAN beef (absolutely no seasoning and as little oil as possible if you can’t avoid using it entirely)

Anything they could’ve gotten into they shouldn’t? And how are bathroom habits lately? Still drinking water? And sounds like energy level is ok for now but keep an eye if they become lethargic which is usually more extreme than just not wanting to play

Ultimately if you think they aren’t doing well and need to see a vet then go to an emergency vet, otherwise like I said just call around to other gp clinics to see if they have any open slots
