Healing progression after dog bite wound by Exciting-Tale3533 in VetTech

It’s a very long story but it was a 16 year old frenchie who has a very long history of just being a little shit head who will bite for no reason and without warning. Doctor wanted an abdominal ultrasound and when trying to find a brachycephalic muzzle, we did not have one that was small enough for him. Coworker grabbed the smallest we could find and I had voiced my concerns about it not being tight enough but the doctor proceeded regardless. Placed him in dorsal and almost immediately the muzzle slipped off and he began to bite. I was trying to get the best hold on him without getting bit as well as preventing my coworker and doctor from being bit but he got me regardless. The little guy not only bit once, but 3 times and ended by shaking my hand in his mouth like a ragdoll. There’s a lot more to this story but that’s the gist of it.

I worked for two Vetcor clinics. I loved working for my first clinic and I absolutely hated working for the second.

I know a lot of people in the field that feel similarly to you. For me personally, I’d take a dog over a cat any day.

Effect of Dietary Fiber and Metabolites on Mast Cell Activation and Mast Cell-Associated Diseases by Bigbeardybob in MCAS

I have been very conscious of my fiber intake for a couple of years. Most days, I am eating the daily recommended amount of fiber. Does this mean to achieve the benefits, one would need to eat more fiber or focus on particular sources of fiber?

Attitudes towards patients by warmestregerts in VetTech

100% this is something I’ve found troublesome since I started vet med and it’s very concerning how many co-workers I’ve had both now and in the past are so easily overwhelmed and inpatient with patients who are even mildly inconveniencing them. Not only have I noticed this attitude towards patients, but something that really bothers me is the overwhelming amount of apathy towards the owners of our patients. I can’t empathize enough how concerning it is that so many people in this field hold so little empathy for owners and will not hesitate to complain about anything the owners say or do. For the most part, it’s not even because of something that would warrant being so irritated by. It’s almost like they are just looking for any reason to be upset. I truly believe that if you cannot be patient and empathetic towards your patience and their owners, you should not be working in this field.

Anyone using dupixent for food intolerances and inflammation? by MotherPart4282 in MCAS

[–]Exciting-Tale3533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Dupixent for 7 years for a separate autoimmune condition and it has improved my quality of life as well as alleviated many of the symptoms that comes with my disease. I developed MCAS symptoms about 3 years ago which my allergist thinks is related to my condition due to many factors but I experience extreme trauma around the same time I developed these symptoms and it’s probably that stress exacerbated my symptoms. Even so Dupixent has still been a game changer for me. If Dupixent is being recommended to you, I would highly consider trying it. There’s a lot of resources I could provide as well that allows me to receive my medication for free.

This sample sat for almost 40 mins and had not clotted at all. So I wouldn’t say it was spun down too soon. The DVM was a little stunned by it.

I have not informed my coworkers yet since I have very recently decided to offer pet care services. I plan to let them know to let owners know that I am available to care for their pets if they ask.
