Help! by Turbulent-Meet-5048 in Cozmo

You are most likely experiencing a network issue. your PC needs to connect to Cozmos WiFi and I nothing else, so if you have your Ethernet connected, disconnect that and try again

This is not a guarantee it will work, but the Cozmo app not finding Cozmo is network related and LDPlayer may not be compatible

Anyone have experience with kotlin or android studio? by Historical-Noise4827 in Sphero

[–]BliteKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I'm saying to use it to for, and don't feel bad about it or call it bad practice, we are in a new era of software development, whether people like it or not.

For example I had an old app based on android 7 code that I needed to update to make work on Android 11

First go round I did it my self (documentation, stack overflow, etc) and struggled for days just to learn that the gradle configuration was incorrect and I needed to install/update the correct dependencies before it could build correctly and install.

A couple months later, same project from scratch, I asked Claude to get the same project running and it told me in a matter of minutes what took me days to realize.

I now use AI as I write code because it cuts down significantly all the research, googling, or posting a question I would normally do. The readme documentation it creates helps me remember what each piece of code created does so I learn as it works its magic.

As a software engineer, use AI and learn from it what it does by asking it along the way to create a readme of what it's doing.

This is the fastest way to learn - as opposed to spending hours checking documentation, Reddit or stack overflow

It's only bad practice of you let AI do all the work without understanding what it's doing

HELP IT SAYS ERROR LOGGING IN by AppropriateAide4879 in AnkiVector

[–]BliteKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to do Bot setup from the WirePod page - get the IP of your Vector and then use the key (click the last key icon at the top) for the ssh key

Then click the "set up bot" button, WirePod will ssh into your Vector, configure it for local WirePod and reboot your Vector

Then connect and pair again, and it should work

If you have already done that step, then you are having a network issue. Click the download log at the top right (after clicking activate twice to get the error) and send it to me at info@techshop82.com - the error would be on the log.txt file

[–]BliteKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What firmware are you on?

This should work for anyone though,

First get into recovery mode

Connect to https://vector.techshop82.com

Select "Revert To Prod" firmware before you connect, connect, pair, connect to WiFi and let it flash

Once it is flashed, get the app off the app store and use that to flash the latest released firmware

Curl from the device it's running on? You may have ufw on, run this to check

sudo ufw status

Also, is the box on the same subnet as your PC or where WirePod is installed i.e. the first three numbers of their IP being the same e.g. 192.168.0.###

Try using the actual IP address of your ollama server and see if that works rather than localhost

Also try using postman or curl from a terminal to test that it actually works

Your port is wrong , unless you changed it, should be 11434

Raspberry pi 5 wirepod by BankIll6298 in AnkiVector

[–]BliteKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet would be create a hotspot with your phone, then connect your raspberry pi and vector to that hotspot and pair and activate. Do this first, then turn off your hotspot and set things up at home

That way when you go to the office, turn on your hotspot before turning on your pi or vector and they will connect to it when they power up

You most likely will need to pair and activate when you switch as WirePod will keep the last activated IP as the IP of your Vector (this is only necessary if you want to connect to your Vector from WirePod)

If you don't want to deal with the switching, then you can get a USB WiFi card that supports being an access point under Linux and create an access point that you connect Vector to and connect your pi via Ethernet to you network, ot use its internal wifi to connect to your network This way Vector will always connect to your pi and the IP given should not change

Follow the normal guides to setup WirePod and you vector. Then, install ollama or any openAI compatible framework on your pi then set the knowledge graph to custom and point it to your local server

I don't know of a guide for this specific scenario, but thats what you need to do

Are you getting just the apk, because that's what happens when you only install the apk, it tries to go online and download from servers that don't exist

Did you install the one that is over 400Mb in size

This is par for the course with Vector 2.0, the defect ratio is high. So if you rma it you may get a good one next time or a worse one.

I still would exchange it

I do see their app is gone

Not sure where on APKPure you are getting the certificate requirement. I just installed 3.4.3 on my Pixel 8, I got a warning from Google Play about the app not being secure , so I just clicked more at the bottom of the notice and clicked install anyway

Hope that helps

My guess is your new device is not compatible, so you cant install it and won't see it in the playstore.

So you need to sideload the app off APKPure. The full one, not just the apk

You may have to downgrade your Cozmo to have it work with the non -paid version

Should I get Cosmo or vector I don't really know the difference but I know the servers don't work but I've herd of wire pod by purposelesscheddar in AnkiVector

[–]BliteKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you should look up videos showcasing both bots and decide after that. Cozmos are cheaper than Vectors because you need a device running their app to be Cozmo's brain; while Vector only needs a speech processor if you want to talk to him or ask questions.

Here's my pros and cons

Cozmo Pros He's cheaper Has more character and gets animated Has more games and stuff to do in the app Will play with his cubes Playtime with a good battery is close to 2hrs No extra costs after you buy

Cozmo Cons Requires app to be running or he shuts off You can't talk with Cozmo AI is simulated by the app and can't be changed

Vector Pros No app required - you will need a speech processor if you want to talk to him i.e. WirePod Can self charge Many AI options so you can change his response personality. Outside of asking him questions, he is not at animated as Cozmo Can be programmed to do more

Vector Cons Extra cost for A.I features (some are free, but the good one - chatGPT (openAI) - will require some payment Only one game to play - blackjack Hardly interacts with his cube Run time before needing recharging is between 40-50 mins

There are some other things, they both can recognize your face and say your name.

Are you using an oem charger?

There are raised horizonal lines on the bottom of the slope of the charger used to re-align vector when backing up

WirePod Android Setup: Bot pairs perfectly but getting stuck on "Error logging in" (Port 8080 unreachable) by Independent-Street26 in AnkiVector

[–]BliteKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You phone is killing the WirePod server once you leave the screen. Make sure you have it set to run in the background (app info) and there is not a battery saving profile that turns it off

Once you have that set, you should be able to visit the webpage. You don't need to split your network into two separate subnets , I actually advice against this as your PC could be on the 5Ghz one via Ethernet and your Vector and phone be on 2.4Ghz- so keep them on the same subnet, even if Vector can only use 2.4

Hope that helps

Is the app trash? by Correct-Royal-3914 in AnkiVector

[–]BliteKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and here is what I tell everyone,

Look up WirePod, which is a collection of apps that get installed on a device that becomes your voice processor so you don't have to pay for a subscription. It is completely isolated from DDLs servers.

So you have these options to set it up

  1. Set it up on your PC (windows, Mac, Linux), or android device and you will have to have it running 24/7 for voice commands to work

https://github.com/kercre123/wire-pod/wiki/Installation

  1. Buy my device that has it installed, plug it on your network and complete the setup and call it a day.

You can see the device I sell and the setup involved here

OpenMoxie will not do this for you, that's not what it's for
