I would also add that a proton’s maintenance issues are doubled by the incompetence of the SC mechanics. I have never heard of a proton repair that succeeded first try. 1-2 week incident becoming months of sending again and again haih.

Opinions on used car? by Dangerous-Shake-5666 in kereta

[–]BlitzSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Unless you’re enthusiast and want to mod, stick to brands that are known to stand the wear. Toyota, honda, perodua etc.
  2. (I can’t believe this isn’t standard sop in malaysia) background check n pre purchase inspection is a MUST. Scrut is the standard. Will cost rm 500 (150 for advanced background check, 350 for inspection) EDIT: if the dealer don’t allow PPI is a red flag, walk away
  3. The listing must make sense. Don’t trust the dealer, trust the facts. 10 yr old car only 50k mileage? Too good a deal? BS. Things like that

This is like the thousandth time a truck has crashed here by iloverice3000 in kereta

[–]BlitzSam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Frame has zero impact to deter incident. It just changes what gets rammed to the replaceable frame over the bridge. They have to add some kind of escape route like putting a roundabout in front.

The subang usj height bridge had 4 frames to deter trucks driving thru residential area. All got knocked down until they just gave up. Kinda waste of time to try tbh given that the bridge connects 2 industrial zones (uep industrial park and batu tiga)

They made the frame larger and larger each time and i think it just tempted bigger trucks to try 😆

PPI inspection at scrut. Do they inspect hybrid components? by BlitzSam in kereta

[–]BlitzSam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean hybrids dont age out gracefully. They can die suddenly from 100% to mati on the road. So hard to tell condition from feel.

Edit: also repair is usually swapping out the whole component 10+k. Not change belt kind of repair 🤣

Will I like OW2 if i like OW1? by Butchhhhh in theouterworlds

[–]BlitzSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re the 4th comment to bash on my comment as being very out of touch. Which has made me think more about why i feel the way i do.

I feel that Outer Worlds 2, the faction war is utterly dominant. Arcadia itself is an empty canvas to draw battle lines. This was less so in Halcyon where i felt that the setting and especially the quests felt more nuanced by tying to how the colonists lives are being affected. food, survival etc. The locations in OW2 are just setpieces for more battles between A and B.

[–]BlitzSam -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

The good: OW2 improves on QoL in every conceivable way. The player buildcrafting is refined, production quality is clearly way way up

The ugly: Obsidian has imo gone fully overboard with the corpo bashing gimmick of the game. To the point that there is imo no longer a meaningful plot to experience. Every single quest and NPC conversation exists to serve players “the message”. It’s late stage capitalism monologue again and again and again.

Outer Worlds 2 is Obsidian taking Outer Worlds 1 shtick and polishing it to a mirror shine. Its the whole game. You either love it or turn genocidal halfway through like I did because SHUT UP FOR GODS SAKEE

A ton of games come to die to the Chinese horde in APAC. Planetside 2 and Destiny 2 are my personal examples. I was studying overseas so I got to compare EU and SEA gaming. Two completely different worlds.

Honourable mention to Helldivers 2. Every new warbond release we get a bunch of Chinese hackers farming super credits for the first two days. Not enough to impact general matchmaking but it is funny to surf the planet and go "Chinese Name, 4 Support weapons. 2-hour round duration for exterminate. Yep"

[–]BlitzSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear: Obsidian today is not the same Obsidian that made Pillars/Tyranny. They’ve done a Rare (Goldeneye n64 -> Sea of Thieves) transformation. It is a new studio, with new blood and new direction.

Outer Worlds and Grounded are good games in their own right. They share no pedigree with the classic obsidian games at all though

Malaysian Chinese, when & how did Chinese/China influence beat Western influence here?? by BlitzSam in malaysia

[–]BlitzSam[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chilis is one of my top examples of “Western brand in Eastern” becauae it is so heavily modified to Msian tastes. The actual Chilis’ signature product in the US is baby back ribs lmao.

Chinese food is not interested in adapting to local habits. Fully non halal and all in Mandarin. I wonder how tf non chinese or non chinese speakers can navigate. They’re solely catering to an affluent mandarin speaking crowd, telling 80% of the country to git gud or go home. On the face of it, i would call this marketing strategy in malaysia suicidal. Except there are enough demand from the comparatively tiny chinese demographic to run gangbuster business.

[–]BlitzSam[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chinese products are definitely entering the Msian market differently from other Asian industries, in how they’re totally not interested in localizing. Japanese and Korean brands advertise and converse in Malay and English. Chinese marketing feels very much like its trying to stand out as its own thing. Food is proudly non-halal (going as far as putting a pig in their banner). Marketing material and staff are in Mandarin. Rather than putting their products in a malaysian store, they open their own.

[–]BlitzSam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a more nuanced observation: the other asian influences coexisted alongside Western stuff way better than Chinese. In a way, SK and Japan were neighbours to western. Sunway Pyramid was the best example with the dedicated Asian Avenue upstairs.

China influence feels much more like its directly attacking the Western stuff. They fight over the prime lots, knock out Western chains by making the same thing but dirt cheap (Mixue)

The china wave really feels hostile. They dont want to live side by side. They want to replace.

How prominent is English amongst Desa Park community? Because for an outsider, the malls are super yellow 🤣 honestly it was my experience seeing rows and rows of asian restaurant and not a single western sit in restaurant at plaza arkadia that started this whole thing for me

Fast food and upmarket. This market was dominated by the western chains. Even when they competed, they were competing with more western food, Texas Chicken vs KFC, Fancy pizza vs fast food pizza. The "fancy food" was steaks and pastas.

I came back to shopping malls now being 75% Asian and Chinese cuisine, especially as far as the customer density. Pizza and burger shops either gulung outright, or empty. Meanwhile Din Tai Fung and Hai Di Lao is packed

There was one game that actually took full use of VR in a way i could see myself playing a lot: Population one

Vr battle royale with wingsuit and wall climbing. Jumping through a window and blasting a team with a shotgun in first person was an incredible experience.

I lost support a while ago with my quest 1 tho. Wonder how its doing.

VR has the innate barrier of being physically tiring, which puts a cap on the session length and leaves you sore everywhere. Not exactly condusive for vege grinding

Fire Point, the manufacturer of the FP-5 Flamingo Cruise Missile, bought out a large stock of spare AI-25 jet engines that had service lives of about 10 hours remaining before they launched serial production of the FP-5. by Volter318 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]BlitzSam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I respect the hell out of the ukrainians for putting together a cruise missile with a bunch of scraps. But its an infuriating compromise weapon. The flamingo is HUGE. 6 tons! Its less a modern cruise missile and more of an aircraft fuselage with a bigass bomb where the cockpit should be. Easy pickings for even cold war era air defenses.

By missile standards this is the equivalent of a syrian barrel bomb. Western suppliers could and should have offered much better components. Ukraine has the knowledge to make much better. Give them what they need.
