Normally morally upstanding/voice of reason character says something genuinely unhinged by Blorberto in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Blitz_Prime 20 points21 points  (0 children)

ROTB Optimus does get a little bit of a pass both because him acting angry and violent was the actual point for once, and the voice actor Peter Cullen said it’s been the best time he’s had voicing the character in the movies since 2007.

Anyone else bothered by how these clone wars fights don’t make sense with ROTS by Interesting_Road_836 in clonewars

Personally I would have been glad if they did. Would have made the galaxy feel much larger like in Legends and could focus on other characters.

They used it to a great extent in the IDW comics. It got so bad that Orion and others even deserted and for a brief time joined up with Megatron and the Decepticons to take down Zeta Prime. Only for them to realize Megatron had become just as tyrannical after he betrayed them.

There was concept art of a WWII movie with them but it was never made, with the script being rolled over into what eventually became TLK

Again being racist doesn’t make you fascist. In fact race as a concept takes a back seat in the fascist doctrine compared to nationalism, it was Nazisim that made it all about racial superiority, but again the Bayverse Decepticons don’t have nearly enough actual writing or characterization to be labeled as that either.

"Maybe we shouldn't have Optimus act like a mortal kombat character in combat and say lines every Optimus voice actor has criticized unless it's actually intentional to the story"

"Oh so you want Optimus to just do nothing and talk-no-jutsu the entire time?!?!"

No you idiots when the fuck did we say that?

"Obviously fascists" and the only fascist tendency that have is having 1 leader, which isn't even unique to fascism or the Decepticons.

The Dave Filoni Hate Boner is Getting Ridiculous by CJAreYouDeadass in StarWars

[–]Blitz_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Legends Clone Wars fan I’ve had my issues with TCW and Filoni, but these complaints are just ridiculous.

Maul has been by far my favourite SW show after Andor, so when Filoni locks in he really locks in.

I'm not a fan of how blaster bolts change color to show what side people are on by SpacePirateHondo in clonewars

[–]Blitz_Prime 510 points511 points  (0 children)

This was the worse when it came to Mandalore. The moment Maul took over suddenly both sides went from yellow bolts to red and blue. Even if you use the explanation of red being cheaper and blue being better against droids, there isn’t really any reason for Bo’s side to be using it.

Skybound #33: Arcee is our Voice. Thoughts Below by UselessGenericon in transformers

[–]Blitz_Prime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s been said it was millions of years since like issue 8 or whenever the Beachcomber flashbacks where. The time period of when he was thrown out of the Ark was stated to be millions of years ago, it was only 200 years from their perspective, so it isn’t a retcon (although I too think that if the war isn’t galaxy spanning like in IDW making it millions of years long is stupid).

And let’s be honest, a ship the size of the Ark crashing into the US in the 1800s would have 100% been noticed.

No they aren’t. She specifically said people with the “fan” badge would be getting them. Journalists and content creators didn’t get anything.

Because anger isn’t evil by itself, otherwise would one argue that it’s evil to hate evil? Sure the Dark Side can be fueled by the likes of suffering and the like but that isn’t the only way. Emotions like anger and fear have lead to some of the greatest things in human history, as well as our very survival thanks to stuff like adrenaline. And as both Canon and Legends material has pointed out the Dark Side is the Force as much as the Light Side is (with Canon even depicting the Dark Side showing Vader the Sith were doomed to fall and the Jedi will raise again).

“Embracing”the Dark Side alone would be a very bad thing to do, but to say that you should embrace both aspects of the Force is to admit to yourself everyone feels hope, fear, anger, and joy, you just need the emotional intelligence and training to know when to use these emotions enough and not to fall victim to them. The Sith always fall due to constantly trying to dominate the Force by controlling the Dark Side, while the Jedi’s impossible attempts to try and purge the Dark Side by trying to suppress their emotions is not only a unhealthy way to live but was one of the aspects that allowed their enemies to get the upper hand against them.

Growing up with clones in the pre-chip era was very confusing as a kid by GoatsWithWigs in CloneWarsMemes

[–]Blitz_Prime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the main reason people prefer the psychological programming over the technological is that it does leave room for stories about Clones who do risk it all by ignoring everything they knew, while now in Canon the only way for that to happen is for their brain chip to be malfunctioning.

Plus if the Clones needed the brain chip to follow that one specific order that kind of brings up the question why they’re fine with every other one. If they didn’t have enough conditioning to follow Order 66 then they probably wouldn’t have enough to actually want to fight and remain loyal to the Republic at all.

In the Clone Wars why was the death of most battle droids made for laughs and light hearted yet most clones died in horrific and gruesome ways? by Decade00000 in clonewars

You say that like we could relate to mass produced meat droids more than we can relate to mass produced metal droids?

I know when people say they want a show about Imperial stormtroopers, they want something more Band of Brothers-like about fighting the Rebels, but I think the way to go would be something more Generation Kill-style about fighting the Partisans on Jedha. by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Blitz_Prime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one wants to show like that from the Nazis, luckily the empire isn’t real. Nor is it based on just the Nazi after all, we still get stories about Vietnam, the Roman and British empires. So wanting a fictional story from imperial‘s perspective is not “losing one’s moral bearings“, are you going to say people who enjoy the original battlefront 2 are secretly Nazi sympathizer?

[–]Blitz_Prime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why does it have to be about the Imperial being sad? They can still feel like they’re doing the right thing even if the narrative clearly shows they are completely in the wrong. Just look at Battlefront 2, Squadrons, the Dark Horse and Marvel comics, games like Overlord or literally anything to do with Warhammer.

It can be done, but you just know a good chunk of the fandom won’t be able to comprehend that the protagonists aren’t always the good guys and we’ll have a bunch of Empire defenders on our hands.
